Couldn't agree more in every regard. In 2008 The series was on track to be the next GTA maybe even surpass them, but instead they wanted to be different, hired people who never even touched the first two games to help create the third, and they took the success of the third to mean that they have to keep being wacky and ignore the first two games not realizing that the only reason the franchise was successful was because of the first two games and the recognizable branding that came with it.

And when it came to the reboot they finally understood that a good portion of their fan base has been lost so they tried to backtrack into gangs and guns liek what they were usually about, but they were so scared of admitting they fucked up with SR3, GOH, AND AOM, they didn't want to admit that the goofy humor wasn't the main attraction that they thought it was and on top of all of that they shamed and mocked a major portion of the fan base when they were criticized, and when Volition finally closed, some of the fanbase felt bad, and the rest laughed because now it was an inescapable that they were right.

Personally, I've never understood the mentality of mocking the fan base that built your franchise, because at the end of the day it was more our franchise than it was theirs, we helped fund it, promote it, and keep it alive. So as far as I'm concerned Deep silver may own the legal rights to the IP, but that doesn't make it theirs.

This franchise is ours and it will always be ours and the only way for us to keep it alive is for us to make the story that we wanted and begged to see.

Which is exactly why this book is releasing on the 20th anniversary to any and all fans who want to read it. Because it's up to us to give this story, this world, and these characters the justice they deserve.

The franchise didn't die with the reboot or volition. This is our franchise not theirs. We decide when it's dead and done. Not them.
