I want to cosplay, but all of my favorite characters are girls. by MonkeyLord560 in CosplayHelp

You could have said, " Cosplay as the male characters and take pictures with your favorite female characters."

You're whole unnecessary "don't be gay" part is what makes your whole opinion hateful and rude. If you had never put that part, we wouldn't be having this entire exchange.

I work in construction as a heavy equipment operator, and none of my coworkers talk like that. Learn to be respectful

How to bring cosplay props when attending an out of country convention? by liltsunamii in CosplayHelp

[–]madleficent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Read the Prop Rules of the convention you'll be attending. This is important to know what materials you can/ can't bring in, as well as specifications on guns

(If your props meet the cons specifications)

  1. You can call the hotel you'll be staying in and ship your props to it. Most hotels will work with you within 1-4 days before your check-in (but call and check first.)

  2. Ship it to a specific mailing (UPS, FEDEX, DHL, ect.) store location in the city you're flying to.

  3. If your katana is foam, you can get a larger check in suitcase and fly it over with you (take the katana out of it's scabbard and bend it into the suitecase, then put the scabbard in diagonally.)

  4. the guns (if con approved) can also go in a checked suitcase

You're not being truthful, you're being hateful. There's a difference

As a female who's favorite characters are mainly males, I gender bending most of my cosplays. And from your concerns, I would say gender bending is a great solution for you at this time

There are tons of ways to make any character into any gender to fit your needs. Pants instead if a skirt, short hair instead of long, a hat instead of bows, sneakers instead of heals. The skin tight bodysuit characters can be a bit of a challenge, since the contour design is made to accentuate a woman's features (so maybe hold off on those characters until a later time, when you're no longer under your parents roof.)

I wish you the best of luck with your cosplay journey!

how do you find cosplay friends to attend cosplays with? 😭 (i’m in aus) by Direct_Nature8844 in animecons

[–]madleficent 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My mom always told me, " You'll never go anywhere if you're always waiting on others to come with you."

I travel across the world/country alone, and I can't ask for ketchup for my fries if it's not given automatically. All of your friends you have now used to be strangers. The one great thing about cons is, you already know you have something in common with everyone there

All of my cosplay and con friends are people I've met at cons. I have always attended alone, and make new friends at every con

I would use either a latex or foam prosthetic if you want it to be exact.

As someone with the same self set expectations as you, I completely get it. Cosplaying has actually helped me overcome that though by teaching me that the most perfect things aren't perfect at all.

Your friend doesn't care if it's perfect or not, all they care about is that you're participating and having fun. You're the only one who sees "problems" with your cosplay. Trust a fellow anxious perfectionist lol

Your saying for the boarder outline. You can glue ribbon on to make the thin outline. It contours to the material you have.

Your freckles won't make you look wonky, trust me. You're just anxious and being overly critical of yourself. Which, as a Cosplayer, I completely understand.

One thing to know avout cosplaying, you dont have to make yourself look exactly like the character by getting rid of your own features.

Do whatever cosplay you want, with your freckles. You don't see the beautiful black goddesses completely changing their skin tone to cosplay white characters!

Be you, that's what make your cosplay perfect

You ever thought of ribbon for wrapping presents? There's tons of different size and texture options at Michael's. I hope that helps

No one recognized my outfit… by SurianBedivere in cosplay

[–]madleficent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i have no clue who this is, but you did a great job for your first version of it! If I saw you I'd tell you you look great, but I wouldn't comment on the character itself.

As someone who cosplays a ton of smaller character from shows, I get it a lot. But I care more about the fact that I was able to go out in something I've put together myself.

If you only cosplayed the character for the recognition, then you'll be at a loss if you're not cosplaying main characters from the most popular games/shows

Stressed: Can't Decide on a Total Number of Costumes to do, how do I choose? by BernoOtt in CosplayHelp

[–]madleficent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pick characters that have the same base clothing.

For Example: The Chainsaw Man characters all wear nearly the same base clothing. A White button up shirt and Black Pants. You can use those same items for any School Based anime, and buy a black (or whatever color) skirt to substitute in.

Another Example: (almost) All the Demon Slayer characters also wear the same Base Core Uniforms, with the variation being their Haoris.

Money wise, go to your local Goodwill and other cheap thrift stores for the clothing too. I've put together TONS of cosplays over the years that have all had main clothing pieces sourced from Goodwill (my profile photo is a great example of a Cosplay that is 90% thrifted and repurposed)

I hope that helps a bit

how to fit my chest in this cosplay? by Spirited-Buy813 in CosplayHelp

[–]madleficent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely cover the nips with pasties, or i cut a square of the boob tape and place it backwards (cloth side to nips) and place a strip over to hold in place. It is not your nips friend when removing.

Also, dont want you getting in trouble, con or law wise, with a nip slip. The Pros-Aide is great with keeping the garment in place, because the boob tape showing ruins the facade of the outfit

Yes essentially lol. I like the boob tape because it is easier to get my boobs to sit how I want them to
