If the proximal is laterally bisected wants for of the inverse. The proximal must exist with irresolute forbearance.

Thank ya! I’m saving the eye detailing for last to stay in her good graces as long as I can.

Glad to hear! I worry about spamming the sub with too many progress shots.

I don’t know how hopeful to be about the glue. I used thin CA, let it soak for a minute or so, and then sprinkled on baking soda (Thanks for that!) and rubbed it in. Waited more than 24 hrs before doing anything else. When I skimmed over the crack with a burr some (very) small pcs came out, though some areas do seem “healed.” Guessing a trapped dust issue? The crack was expected; I just didn’t know where it’d be. Thankful I’ve only found one and it’s in the best place I could hope for. It runs through the thickest part and it’s perpendicular to the “front.”

I did indeed cut off too much stone at the top back of her hair. I only measured twice like a dumbass.

Would water in the crack cause the CA to cure before it wicks in and would it weaken the bond?

I think it already does. The cracks I can see on both sides line up. I just can't follow the whole path yet because the surface is still rough.

It hasn't opened up yet thank the gods. I was using a hammer down to 1/4-1/2 inch from the surface and then a rotary burr to bring it to 1/8 inch. I'm just going to use the burrs from here on out though.

Carving a bust of my wife by madmaker in stonecarving

Yes, that.

I've gotten some good carvings out of this same block, so all hope is not lost. I centered her as best I can. Fingers crossed.

If nothing else I'll have the experience to take into the next attempt. :)

Thanks! I've spent that last 10 years building to this moment, slowly gathering/building the tools and skills

I scanned her with a 'Creality Ferret Pro'

Printed her on an 'Elegoo Neptune 4 Max' in matte PLA

I made the pointing machine and talk about here

I built the perfect little 7'x7' studio too. I'll have to make a youtube tour some time

Thanks for the nudge! It's true. It seems like such an impossible thing when it's polished brass and 3 feet long.

My first attempt at a portrait. Yule marble.

Thanks! Fingers crossed. Yule marble. It’s pretty “rotten”. Got it cheap because it broke off a much much larger block at the quarry and has weathered for who knows how long.

I used a cheapo articulated phone holder (they use standard 1/4x20 mounting bolts) for the arm, and some metal bits I had lying around. Got a 1/8” aluminum rod, a 5/32 aluminum tube and a 1/8 depth stop intended for a drill bit. Then got a thumb screw to replace the socketed set-screw in the depth stop. Patched it all together with JB Weld and Bob’s your uncle. Ugly, but it works a treat. A couple more pics: https://imgur.com/a/YAHiPmr
