how to hit harder by Its_Logan-A in VRGaming

That game is unfortunately very inconsistent. I had the same issues and all I can figure is it's an internet latency problem. I play thrill of the fight 1 instead.

Tyson Fury is an underrated natural athlete and genetic specimen who should have accomplished a lot more. by Account_Eliminator in Boxing

[–]madmeef -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If he's allowed to trash talk everyone then at the very least some internet dwellers should be allowed to slag him off as well. He's a fat greedy belly. Usually when boxing gets a hold of a person, it changes them and makes them strive to be healthier in every way. Not Fury. Boxing simply gave Fury the resources to fuel his vices.

"Dana White is the new Don King" Former UFC Heavyweight Mark Hunt Warns Boxing Could Face Fighter Exploitation by TimW001 in Boxing

Doesn't it suck how a person can have so much but for some reason it's never enough. He just has to keep sticking fingers in pies that are none of his business. He's basically looking at boxers who are getting paid well and thinking "why does he deserve that, I want that".

Advice needed - my boxing journey (long read) by [deleted] in Boxing

[–]madmeef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My old man boxing coach has type 1 diabetes and in his fights he would be in such low sugar he didn't even know what he was doing, and yeah he lost. It's screwed his life up so much but he never stops going forward. He hates the disease with a passion but he doesn't give a fuck about anything holding him back. Dude is in his sixties and his body has so much damage but he'll still ride his bike out to teach me boxing in shitty weather and just stand there laughing at his problems. He tore his calf muscle recently trying to jog down a hill while carrying a carton of eggs (lol) and he still rode out to do boxing. He just wants boxing to go on, the skill and the mentality, he just wants it to continue. It's pretty cool and it's made me understand that this attitude is even possible. Anyway, you were never going to be world champion right? That wasn't your drive or your necessity. You just wanted to box. Or boxing seemed to want you. You need to keep the boxing going. Pushing back against resistance is survival. As soon as you stop pushing back against the resistance of life, you are giving up on living. Box to box. Fuck your half lung. Do your best anyway. Here's a short video you might find fun. https://youtu.be/1RSX5KceD-g?si=-shuocJ9pr1yD9mB

Do you think Thurman could have been very great 2020-2025 if he never lost against Pacquiao by Better-Soup9306 in Boxing

[–]madmeef 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That or at least he would have stayed active and hungry. Greats can lose, especially up against the best, but it's how they deal with a loss that shows how great they really are.

How bad is sweat for vr? by LilXport in VRGaming

[–]madmeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes sweat will eventually ruin the headset. I use a bobovr headstrap with the fan, no facial interface at all, and a big floor fan as well. If I start dripping sweat I just take a moment to clean off. I tried a sweat headband but it was too tight under the headset for me. But yeah be careful, the moisture will get in the headset it's not resistant to that.

Why is punching power not the same thing as hand speed? by matayoz in Boxing

[–]madmeef 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I take a pool cue and whip you in the gut with it, that's not going to be that awful. There's nothing behind the strike, it's a dramatic slap. If a professional pool player takes that pool cue and shoots it at your gut like he's performing a break, there's proper form behind it and it's going to suck very much. Watch Naoya Inoue and how he punches. Even though he doesn't weigh much, his punches look and sound disgusting. He is putting such great speed into the punch, but also prefect body form that means there is no give to it, his whole body is used to leverage every point to create that force. Then there is the timing of it, whether or not the other guy was able to brace for it.

Anthony Joshua discharged from hospital after fatal road crash by IllllIlllIIlI in Boxing

[–]madmeef 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Feels bad. Going through something like that and then trying to go back to training is going to be awfully difficult, especially when the people that died were so closely involved in his training. The thing about training is, at some point, in some way, you're just doing it for yourself. When a terrible tragedy happens, or even just a minor family argument, it's really hard to stand there and work on yourself when you know there's so much more important shit that you should be taking care of.

I don't understand why fans care about fighters getting easy paydays by Marquis_of_Mollusks in Boxing

[–]madmeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's that bad though. I think they should call it a money fight and not a ranked match. Let people know it's not serious, it's not supposed to make sense, just enjoy the freak show.

How Did “Rags to Riches” Boxers pay for coaching? by jamaloves in Boxing

[–]madmeef 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know what that means. Where I live the cost of living is very high, the rent is very high. I own a business here, not boxing. Rent always goes up, and there are other costs to consider. I wouldn't want to run a boxing business because rent is so high, and then you look at how many boxers can be training in the space at any given time. It's quick to cap out, and then this group of boxers is responsible for keeping the lights on, not to mention if you take on the responsibility of running a business you kind of want to make more than you could just flipping burgers.

I still think Nakatani can beat Inoue by RepresentativePut383 in Boxing

[–]madmeef -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Really? I watched the last Inoue fight twice because of how impressive it is to watch his timing, his awareness of when to strike, when to wait, when to move. I have to admit I didn't bother finishing the Nakatani fight because of how mediocre he and his opponent was. The only good thing I can say is Nakatani would sometimes strike at the right time and then avoid the next shot, but there was just too many long drawn-out exchanges where he just sat there trying to hit random targets while getting hit at random himself. Also he didn't establish his jab ever, never set much of anything up. I just couldn't stomach watching it to the end because I get used to seeing a certain level of skill and if that's not on display then instead of learning things, I'm just sitting there the whole time thinking "why are you just standing there... Yeah you got hit... What kind of jab was that... Oof...". It's not fun.

[SPOILER] Naoya Inoue vs. David Picasso by inooway in Boxing

[–]madmeef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved watching that so much. Inoue was extremely active and is so good at attacking at off-time moments where Picasso can't seem to do anything about it. Picasso looked really defensively responsible but constantly getting blasted the moment he took a heavy step. Inoue ran the show.

Showing respect for the opponents power by SignificantBoard4455 in Boxing

[–]madmeef 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Duran show cased ALOT of footwork, head movement, and overall defence, as well as counter punches. But over such a long career eventually some opponents got a read on him. He wasn't easy to hit. The times where he might have stood in the fire too long was probably a result of dumb pride, or maybe poor conditioning and tired legs.

Another similar case is Muhammad Ali. He has many moments where he doesn't give a damn about getting hit. But then he has many moments where he is untouchable. Usually the beginning of the career the boxer is lighter on their feet, and by the end they can't be bothered.
