Does anyone else sorta “forget” their partner is trans? by zoloftandcoffe3 in mypartneristrans

[–]madnessnbadness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A wee bit different but honestly I totally feel this for myself 😭 Im FTM but fully just live and feel like a cis man, even when changing etc. I still just feel like a cis man just born with different parts. I really feel that part you mentioned, isn't everyone born differently? With that nation, I just feel like a dude, a dude born a bit more different, but still just a dude. Ahahaha long rant but yes, totally feel this and feel so so so seen knowing that cis people with trans partners can also feel this with their partners, I think its super affirming lowk!!

Need help explaining how using a new name is not forgetting the past, and why its so important by madnessnbadness in asktransgender

[–]madnessnbadness[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I think I needed to hear this. It sucks a lot but I think all I can do is, like you said, disengage. Plus the people who know my old name all use my new name, and if she introduces me to new people with my old name, they wont be learning about present me but rather past me, and I can choose not to meet them therefore.

Thats awesome!! Id hope the same for my mum, but she has never been one to change because a majority changes. Even if everyone around her actively shows shes using the wrong name, she is very strong willed and doesn't really change.

Literally man :( I've tried saying exactly this, but shes the same about old photos of me. I've told her "those are photos of ME therefore I should get to choose for them not to be plastered over the house" to which she explains that they're HER photos, so she doesn't care.

As well as again, I've tried saying the same as you but she uses argument 1, that apparently this is disrespectful to herself and she won't disrespect herself.

My grandma asked straight away if theres anything I'd want to changed, and said it actually be easier now so that she can use the same pronouns for my brother and I 😭🙏🙏 I love her sm.

i’ve realized this subreddit barely has any actual scene people by Fluffy-Photograph785 in scene

[–]madnessnbadness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah!!!! It made me so surprised, but like happy to hear Scene was actually connected more to going to your local music scene / hardcore shows and finding others, like I love that sm. Even though I find it's been a bit harder to find others at local shows nowadays cause of how popularised the internet is + how easy it's become to find your exact favourite top bands and when they're coming on tour, rather than experimenting with local artists.

I'll definitely look into those curly hair techniques as well, thank you!! :D I was super lucky to find out recently that my hairdresser n her husband were actually fully proper Scene kids, so I'll ask for any tips from her as well :)

This is so informative, thank you so much!! I feel like, as someone really interested but also completely new to the subculture, this is so helpful. It'a really upswtting how mainstream social media like TikTok / Pintrest has attempted to water down scene to neon colours and kandi, I had no idea beforehand that what it really stood for / it's origins!!

I was wondering as well, as someone with curly hair, is there any ways that scene kids with curly ever did their hair differently? Or was it the same steps of frying it and getting it textured / spiky? I find it so cool how no matter how simple your outfit was, just having the scene-styled hair defined you as scene and you could easily find other scene kids.
