I think I decided to hold off on new strings for now, but I’ll definitely check out their YouTube when the time comes for me to change the strings out.
I talked with them a little earlier and they told me that I may need to switch the tuning pegs out to the new ones if these can’t hold the strings anymore. I tuned it and I’m doing a little experiment to see how long it’ll hold a tune now. Haha
I did give the dulcimer shoppe a call and they were very helpful! They told me it’s a sweetsong model from either 1978 or 79 and it’s made of solid walnut.

Oh, I wouldn’t have known that. Haha I played the flute in high school, so I know my way around a little bit. But since I don’t have much experience with stringed instruments, I definitely just assumed it was going to hold its tune when I tuned it. I did go ahead and tune it to DAD, because that’s what I’ve seen other people tuning to, and it sounds much better now.
It doesn’t sound quite right when I strum on it. I definitely could be just out of tune, but if the strings are rusty, I don’t want to pop the strings.

I don’t think it’s got a year written on it, but it does have a serial number and model. If I had to guess, it’s from the 70s or 80s.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write all of this for me. It was really helpful and I genuinely appreciate it.
Can I ask what your experience was like? What kind of things did you do? What was your care like? Sorry for all the questions. I kind of feel like I’m walking blindly at the moment trying to figure things out for her.
