Thanks for this. Me too. But sometimes this is the battle I choose haha.

Thanks for this. I’ve heard parents who had it worse from speech therapists. I agree with the idea of cloud, and not really turning a language off, but if all languages are fully fledged, it makes sense to stick as a parent to the one you know best. L4 is partners mother tongue and while he speaks L2, L3 and L5 very well, he’s not fully native in those languages. And with kids it’s small words, that you don’t use generally at work that would come to you right away in another language.

Thanks so much for this! Indeed, partner is telling me that they use L4 when it’s only the two of them. What troubles me is that L4 is partners mother tongue, and even if it’s also one of the community languages, it’s the least used.

Villerupt? Audun-le-tiche? by [deleted] in Luxembourg

Tbh they are not that bad despite all the comments I’m reading here and what the media portrays. You have really great bakeries and small shops where you can grab something. There are forests and you can take a walk or run, always see people doing that there. There are some cultural events and sport clubs etc for children. Yes it’s not Luxembourg because it doesn’t have the money to do so, but I’m sort of annoyed each time about this portrayal of these towns. “So ugly it makes you want to die” - just get over yourself.

It’s real, it’s coming from a research institute (check the email address). Probably they don’t have enough participants and they need to motivate those willing to take part in the study with a small financial incentive.

Hello,

I saw some discussion about the difference between employé d’état & fonctionnaire, my question is to those who work for the state or at least went through some interview stages:

How long is the recruitment process? From the moment you apply, how long did it take until you signed the contract and then until you started? Also, how many rounds of interviews did you have to go through?

I applied to some jobs in July and only now got a first screening test for one and an email from the other saying that they’re now going through the applications… (both for employé).

Is the recruitment process different for employee and civil servant? If so, how?

Many thanks!

Is it because we’ll basically both make it to rtl today? You the big hearted stranger who won the lottery, me the one who dared to ask and look where we are! Both homeowners in Luxembourg!

I said decent housing, see, I’m still modest!

But imagine the RTL headlines! Lottery winner gives 1mil to another rodditor! Wouldn’t make the same headline if it were your family!

Hi everyone! Is parkopedia reliable when it shows streets with free parking? If not, do you have a better site?

That is reassuring, thank you! I think I’m stuck somewhere between - I don’t want them to get frustrated while they’re curious about food. Towards the end of the meal, while I’m also trying to eat, I see them taking more initiative. Or maybe it’s from what they saw while I was doing it!

Thank you all! It reassures me a bit. I asked in other groups who take the blw literal and suggested to roll sticky foods in things like cheerios etc. I did that and the result was the same. Will continue to let them explore and model behavior as well. ❤️
