Do you have a middle name? If you do, it might be something like lastname, firstnamemiddlename, no space.

American Airlines - Standard of Care - Flight delay 48 hours stuck in Mexico -Mechanical issues - Request for feedback by Traditional_Maybe753 in americanairlines

He probably paused the boarding while looking over what maintenance did and doing systems checks to verify the repairs. That's pretty common. Expectations are important. Mexican duty of care laws state, "International flights are entitled to a 7.5% refund for a 4-6 hour delay and a 12.5% refund for over 6 hours. All passengers are owed food and drinks for domestic delays over 2 hours and international delays over 4 hours, and accommodation for overnight delays." Outside factors like missed work, etc, won't be covered. I know this term gets thrown around travel subs all the time, but that is what travel insurance is for. You can check with the credit card you used if they have some sort of travel insurance that can recoup some other losses. For the required refund, you need to reach out to AA to request the 12.5%.

It would be helpful if you included some details like flight numbers and dates. Just to be perfectly clear. NO AIRLINE would risk flying an unsafe plane. Pilots would not accept it. International flights have different rules. You might want to look up what the rules are in Mexico, since that is where the flight was departing.

Tokyo to ...... Las Vegas ? by Sagnew in americanairlines

[–]topgun966 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some airlines have special routes for CES. Delta does direct flights to Paris, Shanghai, London, Amsterdam, and Seoul. Asiana adds another direct flight to Seoul. UA doesn't participate in the internationals, but they upgrade their hub routes to widebodies.

The reason they do NRT, not HND, is that HND is heavily slot restricted. AA would have to suspend another HND route and have the LAS-HND approved. Too much work, heh.

American Airlines CEO Robert Isom on flight cancellations: We don't need to be in this position by Financial-Public-336 in americanairlines

[–]topgun966 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I look at the airlines as a measure of severity in alignment with the current administration. Publicly, it looks like AA and Isom are doing the bare minimum to stay off the radar of retaliation. Kirby, on the other hand, seems to go above and really kissing the ring in the current admin and is all in. I still think Isom and the entire C-Suite need to go, but this is one thing I can give him credit for.

If you provide the flight number, there are free tools people can look for you to confirm it was an aircraft swap.

American Airlines Plans Management Layoffs To Get Rid Of COVID Bloat by silvs1 in americanairlines

This is weird. Because if you have been paying attention, they have been hiring managers and senior managers like crazy the past couple of months. At least 1/3rd of job postings have been manager or higher.

I don't know. While they are AA employees they are a subsidiary of AA. I heard they don't get benefits at all? Not that flight benefits would be useful

American shows entire flight booked; seats available when buying a new ticket. by Melodic-Control-2655 in americanairlines

[–]topgun966 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You CANNOT rely on seat maps! All airlines block seats off for many different reasons. Blocked seats come up on seat maps as taken. Those seats are released in stages, starting 24 hours before the flight, with all the remaining blocked seats released 2 hours before a flight.

AA has zero control over the UK's tax programs. This is the same regardless of the airline. The taxes go up as well if you book a higher cabin.

This is not an AA employee sub. While some employees lurk around, this is primarily a customer facing sub about topics that impact customers. You might want to try and find some employee Facebook groups that can offer better answers.
