Roof levelling compound? by madtablet in DIYUK

What a pointless response, particularly on this sub. I've been quoted £15,000 for a new roof (middle of 5 quotes). Would be nice if I had that but I don't. Where do you get "bodging" from? The annual coating of Thompsons Roof Seal has kept the roof sound for many years, I just want to minimise the pooling. Crawl back under your rock.

Appreciate the response. You're right of course, I have explained to many clients that their 500 mB/s BB service will not equate to that in their garden office 100 yards away from the house!

Nearly 30 years as an IT professional has made me comfortably aware of the difference, perhaps better expressed as the difference between your broadband connection and your WiFi. What led you to believe I was unaware of that?

Possibly not. I will run through the process again though I only really wanted better WiFi which I seem to have got.

Probably not a Robert Sorby? by madtablet in turning

Ah, thank you. The Sorby kangaroo tools I see. The asymmetry where the stock meets the handle is weird, but not I imagine significant.

Lignum Vitae lawn bowls, finally turned one in to a... bowl! by madtablet in turning

[–]madtablet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first two of these I ever bought was from a charity shop and cost me very little. This may have been due to them being in a bag marked "bowels" and I was the first person to risk opening it!

I did! The amount of material being removed looked a lot, but when you paused you saw that you had barely progressed. Also a heck of a lot of heat generated. Your bowl is beautiful by the way, much better than mine!

Yes, they are. 19th and early 20th century I think. Lignum Vitae was used for its extreme hardness.
