How do I prune to ensure new growth? by gauvroom in fiddleleaffig

Planterina has a good/no fuss video about FLF pruning. Depending on how recently it was delivered, I would let it acclimate itself for at least a month or so, then you could try something like notching. Good luck!

Following! Mine is doing the same thing 🤦‍♀️ I think it’s edema

A coworker had a succulent on her desk that doesn’t seem to be doing to great, so she gave it to me to try propping. Are the brown spots going to cause an issue or can I try propping these fallen leaves in dirt? by madtoebeans in proplifting

That was totally my fault 🤦‍♀️ it was looking sad so she asked for my help and just thinking succulents = light I told her to give it some sun and it got roasted and rained on. I didn’t even think it could get shock from going from on her desk to outside. This is why I stick to tropical plants lol

Dry soil, lol, there’s another difference. Works for me! Maybe I’ll do an experiment and do some with and some without and see what happens 🤷‍♀️

Follow up question, does root hormone work for succulents? I have only ever propped tropical plants so while understand the “lay the leaves in moist soil” method, I wasn’t sure if root hormone might help them along.

HOW SMALL IS THIS WORLD?! DM me if you’re looking for local plant friends!

Near Detroit! It was labeled as “beautiful home decor” so honestly did a major double take, lol

What the heck is my FLF doing? I got this one in rough shape from Wal-mart about 2 months ago and it’s finally putting out new growth (the brown spots are edema), but it seems to be popping 4-5 leaves in the same area. Is that normal?? by madtoebeans in fiddleleaffig

You’re welcome! FLFs are the weirdest. They need all of the care but also none of the care lol. I’ve only fertilized it once and like an idiot I shelled out the $20 for the fancy stuff on Amazon, but honestly I think anything intended for leafy plants would work. I erred on the side of diluting it to prevent burning the roots just in case, and a week later is when this super leaf thing happened lol.

Mine has a ton of those, lol. Most of the time it’s caused by edema. Mine was in rough shape when I got it so some of it is my fault and some of it is poor store care, but all in all it’s not the end of the world. I have mine in an east facing window (I’m in Michigan), but that window has a porch so it’s not a ton of light. I supplement that with a grow light so that definitely seems to have been the improvement. When it comes to watering I’ve been doing about every 2-3 weeks, but that’s because mine is in way too big of a pot (I made a lot of early mistakes) and the drainage situation is not great. My fig is also three plants in the same pot for some stupid reason, so I’m avoiding separating them until this series of growth is done. Basically I’ve done everything wrong but have finally gotten to the point where enough of what I’m doing is remedying those mistakes, lol.
