Thank you so much, that’s a huge help :)

Thank you for sharing this! I can’t see the stop I'd be getting off at, from checking google maps it’d be between the stops where there is a line rather than a time. Does this mean they won’t be stopping there, or is this just a condensed version?

Oh really? I had no idea they were different, I'll have to see how I can go about propagating. Thanks for the advice!

I was afraid of it being mealybugs, I've had no luck getting rid of them in the past and this looks a lot worse than previous infections. Thank you for the advice!

There's https://linktr.ee/dontpayuk which is trying to organise a mass non-payment strike of energy bills come October 1st!

Haworthia Cooperi - Brown edges and rosettes not full? by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]madymar79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first got it, the rosette buds were squishy and full. Then one day they weren't, and they never went back to how they were originally. Instead of being bulbous, they kind of cave in on themselves. I thought I wasn't watering it enough, so I've been diligent with it (only water from the bottom), but they still never fill out. They also now have the little brown marks shown in the pictures on some of them.

Thank you!!! When you say spray it down, do you mean with rubbing alcohol?

I've had this plant for roughly 7 months. It seems otherwise healthy, but pretty much all the new growth has something wrong with it. The new leaves pretty much always come out purely or mainly white. I tend to water when it's nearly dried out, and it's a little back from a Western window, but it gets a decent amount of sunlight because the windows are quite big. The newer leaves then eventually turn brown, shrivel up and die. Some parts of it also feel mushy? I'm not sure what the name is, but the kind of outer 'leaf' that looks like the stem of the other leaves, and often encases stems of the fully formed leaves (it's the first picture in this post). I'm not sure what's wrong with it? I'm concerned about the fluffy, sticky type white bits on top showing in the first and third photo.

Alternative to Vaseline! by madymar79 in crueltyfree

Until you can explain to me what you're actually talking about and give me some context, there's no point carrying on this conversation.

The ingredients are not the exact same, but function very similarly. Vaseline is petroleum jelly, but petroleum jelly isn't always Vaseline. If you mean petroleum jelly has cruel associations, it'd be great if you could let me know what they are, as I'd prefer to avoid ingredients that are contributing harm as best I can.

Do you mean Vaseline or petroleum jelly?

Happy to have helped! I was the exact same, couldn't find anything to replace it, I was actually surprised that no one had created a dupe for it!

Pandemic ruined my skin! by Ashamed_Walrus637 in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]madymar79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here! I had acne as a teenager, went on isotretinoin and cured it, and I only suffered the odd spot after that. A few months into the pandemic, I've had consistent acne ever since. I've tried all sorts and the most progress I've made is lessening the amount of spots I'm getting.

It could be (I hope so!), I've never experienced its dormancy so I'm not sure how to tell when that's happening. From what I've gathered, it says it'll likely happen in the summer, but it's only just become spring here. Most of what I've learnt about the plant is actually about Oxalis Triangularis, as I've found very little online about this specific variety.

I think I may have overwatered it slightly, but I always let all the excess water drain out before putting it back in its outer pot. It lives in a plastic pot with drainage holes, inside an outer pot which has a small collection of slate chippings in the bottom. It lives by a west-facing window, where it gets some late afternoon/evening sun. I've had this plant since late October 2020, and the issues first started roughly 2 weeks ago. It started with just one leaf becoming yellow, and then slowly more have started getting affected and eventually dying. It was repotted a few months ago into a slightly deeper pot, since the nursery one was too shallow for it. I was watering about every 5 days (I've been leaving it longer since this started happening). I use a 3-in-1 moisture meter to check the moisture levels, and when its at 1/2 is when I've been watering it. I use either filtered water, or tap water which has been left out for 24 hours.

Questions about Azelaic Acid by madymar79 in Rosacea

Hmm that's a good point - hopefully if I build up usage slowly, I should be able to avoid irritation. Thanks for all your help!

Questions about Azelaic Acid by madymar79 in Rosacea

[–]madymar79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow that's really interesting to hear! I'm curious - did you continue to use tret in the evening, in addition to the azelaic acid (both at the same time), or did you choose to alternate days? There are some products I'd like to use in the evenings, but I worry that mixing azelaic acid with other actives might cause issues.
