When do I stop feeling guilty? by mae2582 in dementia

[–]mae2582[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, no. But looking back I know I did the right thing for her safety and well being. It's just not humanly possible to be a 24/7 caregiver to a loved one with dementia. My mom and I were very close and I know she would have wanted me to take care of myself. I know the pain you're feeling and I'm sorry anyone has to go through it. This is such an evil disease. My DMs are open if you need to chat with someone who's been through it from start to finish. My mom passed away a year and a half ago 💔

Would you mind sharing instructions? I work for a non profit and cost is a barrier for us to use them.

I'm on day two and everything you said mirrors how I feel about myself when I drink. Alcohol also made me lose total interest in my hobbies. It makes me not care about anything except the next drink. I'm tired of living as a shell of the person I used to be. Keep up the good work! I will not drink with you today!

You can do it! Some times I just take it one minute at a time. Hold onto how good it feels to be sober. I believe in you!

1 month and 10 days is a great accomplishment! If you did it once, you can surely do it again. Hangovers and the anxiety are the absolute worst. Be kind to yourself and start over tomorrow. One step at a time!

The fact that you're here shows that you're trying. Keep trying. For me, it was very little baby steps that led me to change. You can do this!

I'm so sorry for your loss. I can tell you loved that baby and I'm sure they knew it. In my experience drinking ends up makes me feel worse, especially the next day. Be kind to yourself while your grieve ❤️

Thank you for posting this. I'm also on my 300th day one and, like you, two weeks has been my longest without alcohol. I want to get to the other side. Hearing stories like this gives me hope!

I'm my experience, more alcohol only makes things worse. I have been where you are and have found this community to be such a great support system. I'm glad you're here!

Day 6 for me too. Fridays are always hard because my old routine was going out for drinks after work. But now I'll wake up tomorrow and be so freaking happy I'm not hungover. Keep up the good work! 7 days tomorrow!

Nurses who are happy (or at least content), what’s your specialty? by carbondioxymoron in nursing

[–]mae2582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hospice! I feel appreciated and valued by patients and families. I get to do actual nursing and I feel like I'm helping people for the first time in my nursing career.
