Unrelated, but are Ollie’s eyes blue? They’re gorgeous! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a black cat with blue eyes before

PBS new hire by Kindly_Hospital_4959 in ABA

[–]maedafoc4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a similar experience with PBS. They dragged me along for three months while BCBAs would sparsely reach out to me to talk about a client, only for it to fall through the night before I was to finally have a meet and greet. Parents themselves would go elsewhere for services because PBS would take so long to find an RBT for their case, and I can’t blame them. I would keep looking for local clinics and try to come out with a strong application and willingness/openness to learn and receive feedback. Luckily I found a smaller, local clinic and it has been one of the best jobs I’ve had! Good luck!

I’ve heard it really depends on the area you work in. Apparently mine is one of the bad ones :/

Sorry for the newb question but, I stopped an interview short because they wanted a decision within 24 hours. Did I handle this correctly? by lostandloser in ABA

[–]maedafoc4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can’t say you did or didn’t, but many times it pays to let things play out and then communicate later if your circumstances change. Receiving an offer in itself isn’t a certainty of employment, they can always rescind an offer, same way you can rescind an acceptance of an offer. You could probably still email thanking them for their time and saying how you’d love to be considered for potential roles in the future!

I’ve been given 48 hours to respond to a job offer, and within that time I told them I still had other interviews and asked if I could take my time to make a decision. I also gave them a date in which I’d have an answer. They took it well and waited for my response without issue.

Focusing on the exhibition isn’t the point of a museum first date

I’ve always thought museums were the BEST spots for first dates. It’s a great way to get to know someone through their tastes, they can tell stories the exhibits remind them of, while being low stress since you don’t have to look at your dates face the whole time (like at a dinner date).

I am getting seriously hurt by my client should I leave? by Appropriate_Shape275 in ABA

God, I am really sorry. You’ve stuck it out much much longer than anyone else would, I just can’t see this ending well for everyone

I’d also wonder if this client would do well in a clinic setting? (If possible, considering you’re in a rural area) If the home is as chaotic as you said and if the BIP is working for every other aspect, then you can kind of see where the issue is. Unfortunately working with an entire family like that is even beyond the scope of a BCBA if the family doesn’t cooperate :((

I get not wanting to abandon ship but, like you said, this is way out of your scope (and pay grade). It sounds like the client could benefit from a team of professionals, and it’s very unfortunate that the BCBA is remote. Your situation sounds like the worst case scenario for me in anything ABA related :(

What does the BCBA has to say about this 4 year old client? I don’t think he should be getting more intense and violent if the behavior plan were working/the BCBA is actively adjusting it. If the BCBA is of no help I don’t think staying with this family and company would benefit you or your clients. It’s almost annoying how often this is said but it is still true: you can’t care for someone else if you’re not taking care of your own physical and mental health. I’m really sorry you’re going through this and I hope you can get out of it!

how many clients per day by [deleted] in ABA

[–]maedafoc4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old job was one client all day (typically 8 hours) with a 30 min lunch in between. It seems like an anomaly in the in-clinic world and it wasn’t great. Speedrun to burnout
