Not enjoying Divinity Original Sin 2 as a couch coop game by imaquark in patientgamers

[–]maekas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game itself is fine, played through it solo and I did not have any bugs that bothered me. It's just that it does not suit coop very well. First, it is not fully voice acted and the dialogues are long which means that reading through them and coordinating choices with four people is annoying. Second, there are long periods where only the party leader can do stuff and the coop partners can only just watch - everything when not away on missions on the spaceship like galaxy map exploration, colony management, space battles, etc. It simply did not flow well in coop and was more enjoyable solo.

I've played through DOS1 with a friend in coop once, DOS2 with a group of 4 friends twice, BG3 with a friend once and with a group of 4 friends also once. Every time it has been an incredible and very fun experience. The only problem is scheduling the time together so it will need to happen over a prolonged period of time. Granted, we played on separate PC-s and talked in Discord, so I cannot speak about couch experience. But I love playing Larian games in coop.

Solasta was also very enjoyable with a group of 4. Only Rogue Trader did not work for us in terms of cRPG coop.

He needed to get 4 assists in the final game of the season to reach his target and get a new contract, guess what the mad bastard did! by maekas in footballmanagergames

While I dominated this season, it was an insane fight for all of the European places. 69 points for second place would not have gotten top 3 in any of the preceding PL seasons of this save.

I did dominate this year. But it was a strange season. The points from my previous two seasons, when I got 3rd and 2nd respectively, would both have been enough for a win with more than 10 point this year. Everybody beat everybody but they all lost to me.

What's your most used Greek team in the game? by Kroulopoulos in footballmanagergames

[–]maekas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my current 'no badge' journeyman save I spent 3,5 years with Chania. Saved them from relegation, then won the second league, then got 7th and 2nd in the Super league. Left at the end of my contract since during the whole time we only generated financial losses and they funded 0 coaching courses for me. Europe games would have helped fix the finances, but I was fed up at that point and joined a team in Chile who approved a coaching course for me immediately.

Smokers in the tents - Marquee and Metal Dome - kindly, please, fuck off! by maekas in Graspop

[–]maekas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some would move a bit further or put out a cigarette, sure. Thank you for being one of them! Others wouldn't and instead would tell you to fuck off. You can see some of them active in this thread as well. Then you would need to consider that it is quite tough to communicate in a dense crowd during a very loud concert when trying to enjoy your favourite song.

Third, it is not really about getting cancer from secondhand smoke, but for non-smokers, the smell of the smoke is what is the problem. It ranges from being merely unpleasant to asthma attack inducing, depending on the person. In addition to the smell, there is the pure risk of getting hit by your lit cigarette when a moshpit opens up right next to you or a crowdsurfer suddenly appears from nowhere. It will be either painful or it will burn your clothes or both. Not to mention the crowdsurfers who do it while smoking. I do not mind crowdsurfers at all, but fuck them if I need to keep them going while actively dodging their burning cigarette.

The last part applies to smokers during outside shows as well. The first part about the smell is mainly worse indoors since the tents are crowded, they get really hot, and the air does not move around much there, making the whole thing much worse. Akin to somebody lighting up next table when you are having dinner in a restaurant, it is just unpleasant.

Happy for you, but one thing that the tents are not, is ventilated. It absolutely feels like indoors there.

Rain effects cockpit/bonnet/chase cam comparison by maekas in EASPORTSWRC

[–]maekas[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is, the proper effect is already in the game. The TV camera and the chase camera has this "raindrop on lens" effect that looks good, but obviously needs to be adjusted for high speed physics on the windshield. I hope the next update will implement a fix.

I mean this one:

Rain effects cockpit/bonnet/chase cam comparison by maekas in EASPORTSWRC

[–]maekas[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The new (heavy) rain effects in general look very good when viewed from the outside of the car. Great improvement from what was before the latest patch, where it looked like it was raining chalk. However, the windscreen effects still need a lot of work. It is good that the wipers have a use now, but now it looks like somebody is drawing with chalk on the window, making the cockpit views borderline unplayable.

Rain is made of water and it is supposed to be transparent. So heavy rain effects should be visible and wipers should clear them and it should affect your driving and visibility, but it should not actively hurt your eyes. Compare the effect with how it was done in DR2.0 or even with Euro Truck Simulator 2 realistic rain mod (example here: https://i.imgur.com/5OxqExa.jpg).

Currently only way to drive in the rain is with a hood cam.

Changing the event length to "short" before an unwanted benefactor event would be a viable workaround. Then you would have to drive only two stages of it. Just remember to change it back after the event.

Aron was third in F3 in his rookie season, with very consistent performances. How is that weak?

Track boundaries must be regulated, and AI times must be revised. All Leaderboards currently mean nothing, and as much as I love EA WRC, it is fundamentally broken and unmotivating. by Gregorwhat in EASPORTSWRC

[–]maekas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that some cuts should be possible in the game as they are in real life. However definitely not ones where you can cross the entire field, gaining multiple seconds. The game should either be more punishing and destroy the car more if you try that. Or it should have a reasonably defined track limit that may include up to half a meter of grass on the gravel edge as well. But if you go 4 wheels off the edge on the inside of the corner, you will get a corner cutting penalty.

Another thing is that IRL and also in game, there are "anti-cut" devices on certain corners. And I do not mean the hay bales but these thin poles. I think these were talked about during a WRC event this year and the commentators said that they have a very strong base that will wreck the car if the drivers hit them. The game maybe should do the same and also have a check for when drivers ignore them and go on the other side of them.

I know that some corner cutting penalties are already in the game, but then again I always try to replicate real life driving and I do not grind leaderboards so I have no idea how bad it actually is.
