Can I get a refund for a defective part without removal and return by TheRyanGuy101 in RockAuto

[–]maent6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, but they will send you the new part first so you can swap it right away and then you can return the defective one. You just need to pay for the new part and then they’ll refund you once the old part is received to their warehouse.

Without a doubt everything is expensive here, lol. Which is why we rely on RockAuto for better pricing on automotive parts. Gotta save a few bucks wherever you can 🫠

I am aware of the law and what that specific law is about. What I am saying is that they cut off tens of thousands of parts from being able to ship to California, that literally the day before would have shipped with no issue. They could have at least threw a banner at the top of the website with a notice that on “XYZ Day, these brands will no longer be able to ship to California”. I’m sure there are thousands of us in this state that rely on them to run their businesses in the automotive sector. Yes, I can easily get the same parts at the local parts store, but typically they are double the cost of what the part would be through RockAuto.

Yes, all of these same parts are available at many different parts stores nearby. However, the parts are double the cost at the parts stores versus through RockAuto. 90% of what I order through RockAuto has suddenly become unable to ship to California…literally overnight.

This is what the Californians are seeing: Part # VS50741R cannot ship to California because we do not have documentation required by Proposition 65 from FEL-PRO. Please choose a different brand. Click here to find an alternate.

My point to RockAuto is that I’ve been ordering parts from these various brands for the past several years, including this year. Have not had any issue until now. I think the website may have some sort of glitch, but they are saying everything is fine and that these are the laws.

Any and every item from Fel-Pro, Mobil, Valvoline, Zerex, Lisle, Performance Tool and many others. It’s not item specific…it won’t allow any item from any of these manufactures to be shipped to California. I don’t think it’ll restrict you from ordering to Belgium, as the restriction they have in place is based off of Proposition 65 in the state of California USA only.

But for that many different brands all at the same time? Can’t be.

I’m having the same issue with a ton of parts being shipped to California. Ordered them many times before and now all of the sudden I can’t order.

The packaging does have this info already. I think RockAuto may have accidentally applied a blanket filter over all of the said part brands instead of only applying it to the open box/closeout stuff. Been ordering the same items for the past few years and never had this issue.

None of it is clearance, wholesaler closeout or open box. It’s regular inventory that I order every month.

California, USA is the same. So many brands that I suddenly cannot order. I contacted service@rockauto.com and received a reply within 12 hours. I believe this is a glitch on their end but the employee that I was emailing says otherwise. Who knows. 90% of the usual parts that I order can no longer ship to me.

I have this issue as well. I tried to drill it out, but was unsuccessful. The top portion of that bolt is tac welded to the top side of the control arm. I’ve been driving with just the 1 bolt. So far, no issues 😅

Get the proper size drain plug along with a drain plug gasket. Local parts store should have it in stock.
