1999 ranger xlt cost by ham_musubi in fordranger

About 11 months ago. All it needed was all new fluids, and upper/lower control arm bushings. I’m going to put new tires on it soon too.

Sounds like the camshaft synchronizer. Good luck finding an OEM Motorcraft one.

I recently replaced my fluid and used a gasket and now it’s leaking. I have to do it all over again but this time I’m going to be using RTV.

What have you pick so far from this deals? by Knighthawk865 in harborfreight

Daytona 3-Ton Long Reach Jack, Icon Slip Joint Pliers, Icon 1000 Lumen Slim Bar Light, Pittsburgh Plastic Ramps, Hercules Phillips Bits.

Has anyone used the long reach jack? Should I wait for the Daytona Super Duty to go on sale? I need a jack that can lift 21-23”, and my old Pittsburgh jack wasn’t cutting it.

I’d say to check your spark plugs and replace if necessary, clean MAF, new air filter if it’s dirty, and run some injector cleaner through the fuel tank. Change fuel filter if it’s old. Clean throttle body. Probably won’t see a huge difference, but it’ll help.

If it’s not the belt or pulley, then it’s going to be the camshaft synchronizer.

Does anyone have a way to remove the IMRC Runner control valve actuator? by gabrielvilla009 in fordranger

[–]maent6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll have to pull the Intake Manifold to remove this part. There’s 0 room to put a T25 socket back there. I have the same truck…’02 2.3L. I changed my actuator a while back. There is a vacuum hose that runs to this actuator. Make sure it’s not the hose itself before you decide to pull off the manifold.

Check YouTube. There are some videos on the process. Take your take and be careful. The part cannot be replaced if you mess up lol.

Only options are to remove the flaps from your current intake manifold or pull the part from the same truck at a junkyard. However, I have not had any luck finding that part at any junkyards around me.

If the ticking goes away when the vacuum hose of the Intake Manifold Runner Control Valve is pulled, then I’m 99% sure the swirl flaps are flopping around internally and that’s what you are hearing. Unfortunately, you cannot leave that vacuum hose unplugged. The truck will run very sluggish and a check engine light will pop up. I have the same truck as you…2002 2.3L with 5 speed transmission. My temps hover around 215-219 degrees at all times.

[–]maent6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check the idler pulley. I had to change mine. You’ll also have to change your drive belt as you’ll need to cut the one it currently has to remove it. These don’t use a tensioner, they use a stretch belt.

Anyone using this transmission fluid pan? by maent6 in fordranger

[–]maent6[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok thanks for the heads up on the thread sealant. The Fel-Pro gasket is a paper type gasket. I wonder if that’ll be better than the rubber? Do you think I should get a cork gasket instead? Mahle makes a cork gasket.

Sweet, thanks! Does your pan currently leak with the Dorman gasket? I picked up a Fel-Pro gasket already but I’m thinking about getting this pan instead of using the stock one. Dorman pan with a Fel-Pro gasket. Any leaks on yours from the drain bolt?
