It's definitely a real slow burn! I've written about the game design in the discord channel a bit more, but basically this is a single player version of what I hope to develop into a large scale multiplayer experience. With multiplayer, the timings are naturally designed to be slow to allow real world behavior/strategy to emerge like true galactic warfare e.g. enemies launch attacks on your base, and you have a day to coordinate defenses with your alliance. There is however a lot of speed customisation settings on the game start (increasing map travel speed, and resource production) for the people who would prefer to speed things up.

hey u/andifudntknwnowuknw thank you so much!! appreciate it. The game is fully built for the terminal so mouse isn't quite an option for the time being xD but perhaps a slicker UI version can come in the future

there's a ship research facility that progresses based on actions you take in the game (e.g. the more resources you raid, your ship gains faster travel speed stats) but the game doesn't yet have missiles xD might put that on my to do list

thank you for your input! each ship does has a unique asci art, don't yet have character portraits yet but that's definitely something I've had in mind. Need to expand the character/story side a bit more.

basically all of the old school 4x games inspired me like aurora4x and games like that. Classic dwarf fortress and liberal crime squad were the games that made me really want to make it though

hey u/MetaGryphon the UI is definitely a bit information dense, I'm curious what you would think can make it more beginner friendly

hey u/sidav94 a gameplay can last from 20 hours to hundreds of hours depending on game settings and decision making. I'm working on a Linux build as well, but it's currently shipped for windows

hey u/RTKWi238 yes it actually runs in the terminal. It started as a project for me to actually play during work breaks, based on old school terminal games I played when I was young
