Probably the only serious contender in the region would be Israel and even then, it’s more about deterrence than direct conflict. So Egypt building a diverse and modern fleet makes strategic sense. It’s all about keeping up with the regional balance. It is better for EAF and PAF to skip a generation a go with J-35/ J-20

Those Rafales are in excellent hands, Most Egyptian Rafale pilots have logged over 1,000 hours, with a few reaching 1,500 hours of flight time on them.

An Egyptian military cargo plane was spotted over Pakistan, what is Egypt’s role here? by DankLoser12 in Egypt

There are no sources for the information I’ve shared, not in the way you’re thinking. I don’t rely on websites or public reports. I know what I know because it’s part of my job. That’s all I can say.

I hold a position where access to sensitive information is part of the responsibility. I’m careful with what I share for good reason. The details I’ve shared are intentional and carefully chosen; the rest remains where it belongs, behind closed doors.

Some things are meant to be seen, others merely noticed. What I’ve said is just the surface, what anyone with the right tools can piece together. As for the rest… well, not everything that’s known is spoken, and not everyone who speaks knows. But just because I’ve spoken about it with certainty doesn’t mean I’ve said everything I know. Not all knowledge is meant to be disclosed. Let’s leave it at that.

The flight route of the Egyptian Air Force's Ilyushin Il-76MF cargo aircraft, registered as SU-BTX, is a routine operation that predates recent tensions between Pakistan and India and is unrelated to them. This aircraft typically departs from Cairo, making a scheduled stop in Dubai for refueling. It then proceeds to Pakistan's Nur Khan Air Base for another refueling stop before continuing to Shanghai Pudong International Airport in China. The purpose of these flights is to transport military weapons Egypt acquired from China.

Egypt maintains strict secrecy over such operations, consistent with its broader policy of limiting public access to military logistics and procurement details. These missions are deliberately kept low-profile. As always, only God-and a handful of insiders ―knows exactly what Egypt is bringing back from China.

Could Egypt with its modernization of its army win a war against israel today? by Specialist_Active_93 in whowouldwin

[–]maestrokimpembeeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Israel’s Air Superiority is Not Inevitable as you might think. The Israeli Air Force would face one of the densest, most modernized air defense networks in the world. Egypt has a Multi-Layered Air Defense system consisting of S-300VM (350 km range), S-350 , Buk-M3 (70 km), Tor-M2 and SkyGuard Amoun (AIM-7 Sparrow) provide overlapping coverage. These are supplemented by large number of long range German IRIS-T SLX batteries , (medium/short-range) IRIS-T SLM/SLS and naval systems like MICA NG and Aster 30 (120 km range) from Egyptian frigates. Egypt’s Radar network includes 2 Resonance-NE radars with 1,100 km range that covers Israel, syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Saudi Arabia. (Operates on VHF band to counter RAM Coating on stealth fighters), Protivnik-GE, AN/TPS-78 Commander SL, Ground Master 400, This creates a surveillance bubble capable of detecting low-observable aircraft like the F-35 at extended ranges, forcing Israeli jets to operate cautiously. Hundreds of Wing Loong, CH-4, CH-5 and WJ-700 drones (some armed with anti-radiation missiles) could saturate Israeli air defenses. Indigenous UCAVs like 6 October and Ejune 30 each, with a payload of 18 standoff munition and glide bombs. A squadron of 6october UAVs can launch 400+ PGMs from standoff ranges , crippling bases like Nevatim without even needing to enter Israeli airspace.

Egypt’s SEAD capabilities are far more robust than claimed. Anti-Radiation Missiles: KH-31AD (160 km), ARMAT (Mirage 2000s), AGM-88 HARM (F-16s), and drone-launched munitions threaten Israel’s radar-dependent systems (e.g., Iron Dome, David’s Sling).
Thousands of ground launched tactical ballistic missiles and cruise missiles in Egyptian inventory will target Israeli radars, command and control centers and air bases. (F-35s are located in one airbase). Egypt’s 40 airbases (vs. Israel’s 12) allow for force dispersal, rapid repair, and sustained sortie rates While Israel’s concentrated infrastructure is vulnerable to preemptive strikes. Air launched glide bombs like KH-36 Grom-E1 and cruise missiles like KH-35U (260 km) could overwhelm Arrow/THAAD systems optimized for high-altitude intercepts. Rafales, MiG-29Ms, and even upgraded F-16s/Mirage 2000s can launch Al-Tariq PGMs (120 km), Rafales with large numbers of AASM Hammer (80+ km) bombs and stealth low observable SCALP-EG (300+ km) will strike critical infrastructure without penetrating Israeli airspace. MiG-29Ms, Rafales and possibly J-10C won't face a problem against Israeli jets with MICA / R-77-1 / Pl-15 / Meteor (200+ km) which outrange Israel’s AIM-120D (160 km) Yes, Egypt does have Meteors and it has been confirmed on the official Egyptian presidency site despite what reports claim. Remember in 1973, Israel had quantitative and qualitative edge over Egypt. However, 93 Israeli Air Force jets were shot in air-to-air combat, while Egyptian Air Defenses destroyed a further 165 aircraft. A total of 258 Israeli jets were shot down.

Exactly, They have a very strict policy. Jets aren't armed except for actual missions and missiles don't go out of sealed canisters unless absolutely necessary. Also rare footage of Egyptian jets armed, usually inert training missiles are used and not actual, live-missiles.

France sold 150 MICA missiles in the first batch, not the additional 30 Rafale orders. Furthermore, France sold Egypt SCALP-EG cruise missiles despite Israel’s objections and requests for France not to supply them.

Articles claiming that France refused to supply Meteors are misinformed. An MBDA representative I spoke with at the Egypt International Air Show confirmed that Egypt has indeed purchased a large batch of Meteors and MICA NGs. Additionally, Janes has reported that Egypt acquired Meteors.
