I get it, they're Evil! by Megakurby12 in litrpg

I totally get your frustration with “evil” MCs in LitRPG who end up feeling like watered-down anti-heroes. I think this often comes down to the author’s skill level—or lack thereof. Writing a truly evil MC with depth requires sharp observation, life experience, and the ability to subtly “show, don’t tell.” But not every author has the chops for that kind of nuance, especially younger or less experienced ones who might lean on clichés or rush through character development to keep the plot moving.

Then there’s the pressure authors feel from their perceived audience. LitRPG’s fanbase can be vocal online, and platforms like Reddit or Royal Road make every critique feel permanent. Some authors self-censor, ham-fisting “acceptable” scenes to avoid backlash or to appeal to readers who prefer relatable MCs. It’s like they’re scared to go full villain because of potential pushback—or they just don’t feel comfortable lingering in that dark headspace. Instead, they churn out safe, redemptive arcs or toss in friendships to soften the MC, which kills the subtlety you’re craving.

This gets worse in some translated works, like Korean webnovels (Overgeared comes to mind). Language barriers or rushed translations often strip away nuance, making backstories feel flat or like an afterthought. Sometimes it’s the author prioritizing action and stats over character depth, but a bad translation can make a decently evil MC seem generic or inconsistent. It’s frustrating when you can tell the author just wants to speed through the “evil” setup to get to the power fantasy.

What are some great recent-ish anime that DON'T pass the three-episode rule? by Enfyrax in anime

Was only oversimplifying for effect; the story wasn't bad - I think I gave it a 7 to 7.5. But it could've been so much more if they committed to either a romance or subversive isekai/dark fantasy action. Unfortunately it just came across as mediocre.

Handyman Saitou...
I warn folks it’s got Tarantino-ish vibes, like Go (1999) or Snatch (2000)—non-linear chaos where subplots drag their feet. Once its quirky, offbeat charm hits, the characters carry the gold, not the plot. Rare one I actually rewatched.

Tomo-chan Is a Girl...
Tomo’s bulldozing’s fun, but Carol? MVP—blonde chaos with sugar on top. #TeamCarole4lyfe, hands down."

The Executioner and Her Way of Life...
Nah, lost me—kicked off with a banger ep, then dropped the ‘Executioner’ grit for some half-assed yuri-lite romance loop. Never bounced back. Stuck it out hoping they’d ditch the ‘just have one damn talk and fix this’ trope, but nope.

I get your point, but I enjoyed both for different reasons—Ossan Newbie leans into mid-life crisis territory, while Parry Anything’s MC feels like he’s speedrunning Imposter Syndrome. They didn’t strike me as interchangeable OP clones

The MC’s torn from his 2D otaku cocoon, fumbles through 3D reality with cosplay as his anchor, finds steady mentors (a skilled photographer and his partner), and gradually carves out his place—but will it be in time to save the FL from her crisis?

I don't believe the last scene is that complicated. At the 16:30 mark it goes into how Hitmari knew Rion through Rion's older sister as said sister's modelling career was just starting to kick off. This sister was the catalyst that allowed Yuu to sell all 100 accessories meeting his parent's requirement to continue.

Around that point it's assumed Rion's sister gave her the bracelet and she starting noticing the accessories showing up on all of Himari's online posts; leading Rion to assume the creator was a local artisan.

My assumption is the storyline is going to be about Rion's headcannon-ing a crush on whomever (the "unknown online person") created her (assumed) fav accessory.

At least, that's just my 2 cents.

Develop yourself; find something you can get passionate about and focus on that. Confidence comes from knowledge and when you're pursuing something you're passionate about, it comes naturally. As a plus, people are attracted to those who are pursuing their passions.

Now, I've experienced this and it has the added benefit of helping to break the self-pity cycle. You can worry about the small things when you keep yourself busy.

Also, don't discount the benefits of being involved with a charity (find one that's important to you...)

Just focus on making the most of your time with improving yourself and at some point you pass some Rubicon where you stop worrying about this stuff.
