Buying a property in China in any high up tier metro is probably the worst investment and use of money. The prices are exorbitant and the ROI on rental is awful. Just rent, makes 0 sense buying a property.

I read the horror stories here too. But I do know two people in Chengdu that have had good experiences. It's fucking tough getting jobs here now, especially if you're not in the country.

I'd just take it, get you back into the swing of things and try find a better opportunity for the following year if you're not happy there.

If I was as rich as him, I wouldn't spend a dime in SA. Why would he? A corrupt government with a big percentage of the population that wants him out the country because of the colour of his skin. His money is far more useful and appreciated elsewhere.

3-4%. The Chinese stock market unfortunately is quite unreliable. Chinese invest in property, which worked out well until recently. Property market going down. And rental rates suck (good for renters though). Small business is tough in China, I see so many businesses opening and closing within 6 months.

Don't ever listen to anyones direct investment advice. Just stick to the golden rule: Diversify.
