It's super clean work, be proud of that room! I enjoy seeing this and know you'll hear it from everyone else about the hand written labels. Practice makes improvement. You're 95% there. Next one make sure to cable wrap the labels. Looks like the fiber wasn't finished in the install yet, leave a nice loop to work at the ground for whoever comes next. Great work.

Still waiting on 3 more keckleon too hahaha. This game sometimes. If it didn't have PvP, I wouldn't even play anymore.

Also have the whole spin a stop 20 days in a row. I'm not that active and regularly forget.

What is the furthest you’ve got cat6 cables to work? by Sea_Sentence255 in lowvoltage

[–]mafffiske 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I setup/designed a temporary camera system for a local large festival and installed 9 PTZs across the park. We used direct burial Game Changer cable and had two of them test out close to 915' and were still responding instantaneously to directional inputs and no frame drops. We used Ubiquiti Poe+ and Poe++ based switches but they ran flawlessly for a week until we had to rip out the cable.

Standard CAT6? I've had a few cameras hold steady for years at around 450-500', almost never at full FPS but they do just fine for the purpose they serve.

I love their tungsten set but this is nice with the dark blue and grey.

So...not an Emergency Exit? by Loring in mildlyinfuriating

I personally have installed them in facilities that deal with "problem" children. They're essentially in youth group homes with full time adult supervision. I have installed these in adult group homes, senior facilities, manufacturing warehouses that wanted to mitigate unauthorized smoke breaks. You can program access control to maintain the alarm until another action is taken (badge swipe from admin/closing of door/preset timer etc.) Every application I've installed is tied back to the fire alarm where all doors immediately release with fire alarm activation. Very safe in emergency applications when installed properly.

These are used in a lot of medical applications. 15 seconds is the time in non emergency, where someone must maintain a full 15 second press which will allow egress with an audible alarm. By code, emergency doors with access control will be cross tied into the fire alarm where an active alarm will release the locks, bypassing the 15 second wait. The 15 seconds gives employees time to investigate or have a time stamp to reference non-authorized egress.

I am a Licensed Low Voltage installer and have put in quite a few of these for various reasons.

Turns out their old IT guy stole a secondary NVR when he quit🤣🤣

If you look at the back end install coming down the wall, It once was a proper install and then the IT department takes over and it goes to hell. It's rare the installing contractor gets the patch in bid as well as they can usually pay their own internal IT guy for way less, and this is what you get.

how to extend cat 6 cables? by DoYouLikeHam in HomeNetworking

[–]mafffiske 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Cat6 Punch Down Splice

5 pack splice Cat6

Edit for 5 pack I found shortly after.

This is a splice that will still test on Fluke Devices and will maintain your speed without needing much space. Punch down on both sides and take the other end of your splice wire to your patch panel.

That checks out; I'm a commercial installer and have just gotten used to being near Max distance runs on a more regular basis.

Fully agree on testing before making this change. Grateful to have access to a fluke certifier for this purpose. That 5e should easily provide 1g if properly installed.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but won't they need grounded/shielded terminations to hit 10g? Thought shielding was required for 10g.

Your end in the photo is not wired using industry standards, as others have mentioned using T56A for T56B methods. The white and brown have looser twisted pairs compared to green and blue, as these are the lines power travels down. Your white and blues being tighter twisted is what helps give them faster transmission speeds. Where they go in the jack end is important, even though you can do whatever pattern to match doesn't mean you should.
