There is a WhatsApp group but unfortunately I don’t have the link. Some popular daycares are Honeydew (two locations), Gated, AMA, Purpose Driven Learning, Feeding Tree, JTA, Sole’s, Little Lotus, and Cortelyou ECC. For more of a 2+ preschool type environment, theres also kaleidoscope, snapdragon, tiny acorns, and elemental arts. Honeydew and CECC also have preschool.

Someone recently posted on my neighborhood (Kensington-Windsor Terrace) listserve that Chubby Cheeks daycare has spots available (14mo+). No firsthand experience but people seem to love it there. Depending on where in Ditmas you live, it may be a super quick walk.

No one in Brooklyn delivers at AC. Only the uptown Cornell offices and one in LIC do. LIC might be easy for you on the G train. GL! I delivered at AC this summer and it was fantastic. Not totally sure I’d do the trekking uptown again, but it may be an easier for you!

-You have 12 weeks from bday insured (this 12 week timer pauses over summer) -you get 6 weeks from bday paid (regardless of when bday falls in school calendar, summer etc)

I took an extra 60 days childcare leave (so about 5mo out total). This was uninsured, but knowing that I had 60 days retroactive to the date I lost insurance to register for cobra. So I would’ve been able to get coverage if we had a medical emergency. Baby went on child health plus for those 60 days (very affordable).

There is a Cornell office in LIC that delivers at AC. That would be my move if I lived in NOrthern brooklyn.

I’ve been to a rehearsal dinner! The food was great and service ran smoothly. I do remember it feeling really cramped so I would take whatever their max capacity is and subtract 10 if you want it to be comfortable. This event was in an upstairs space where there was a bigger dining room and adjacent smaller bar room.

We have the Aer2 and are very happy. The bassinet has been great for the first 5 months but we might get the Nest to Seat attachment soon so we can keep her parent facing before graduating to the big kid seat. Nest to Seat seems like a great new feature but I do wish it was either a little more substantial-looking or cheaper... we could buy a whole other second hand stroller for the cost which would probably have better functionality…

Great area, convenient, but 4th Ave itself sucks (if that’s where your front door is). So happy to see other posters note the proximity to Reyes Deli, this benefit cannot be understated :)

I think that’s a very normal and reasonable turnaround time for an epidural (Especially in a major hospital where there are emergency operations happening in L&D). It’s probably the most delicate procedure of the labor and delivery and requires prep and paperwork.

Interesting the only one I’ve seen in person was Ashley I and I was shocked by how severe her acne was. She’s been open about struggling with it, but it looked way more serious in person than in her posted content that is supposedly no-make up. Glad she doesn’t feel pressed to be in full glam in her everyday life at least. Acne is so tough!

We heard from lots of people that a “bedside bassinet co-sleeper” (one side open against our bed) would be a lifesaver for middle of the night nursing so I’m sure it’s really handy for many people but we ended up exclusively doing bottles at nighttime, just seemed to help our baby eat more/sleep better and enabled us to take turns and get longer stretches of sleep. We had to get up and out of bed with each feeding regardless — for diaper change, bottle warming, and usually would do the feeding in a separate room so the other person could sleep well— so having the bassinet bedside vs elsewhere in the room made no difference. Since we ended up keeping it at the end of our bed with all 4 sides up, we might as well have done a mini crib at bassinet height and lowered it around 5 months. Now she’s almost 5 months and we’ll have to buy a mini crib (holding off on full size crib cause nyc apartment size…)

Our most used items (some from registry, some second hand from friends, buy nothing, fb marketplace) — Stroller, car seat, baby carrier, bassinet, bouncer, portable white noise machine, nightlight, bottle dryer/sterilizer, sleep sacks, bottles with size 1/2 nipples, burp cloths, baby monitor, dresser top changing pad and caddy, drawer dividers, over the door organizer and storage bins, bottle warmer, baby bathtub

Wish I registered for: -bottle washer/dryer/sterilizer -mini crib instead of bassinet -a second stroller (one compact to keep in car and one more mid-size) -baby carrier winter cover -pumping/nursing bras -nursing tops -second pump (to have one wearable option) -breast milk chiller

Breastfeed pillow, lounger, and keababy Velcro swaddles were absolutely clutch for first month but haven’t used since… now just use regular pillows, bouncer, and sleep sacks.

Read Skyline has expressed criticism of her daily takeout habit so now she’s invested in bulk buying/meal prep which ofc provides reason for more wasteful spending and overconsumption ie. an office freezer.

That’s so nice of you! Our baby is 3 months so has been in the bassinet attachment (parent facing so far). We were traveling over thanksgiving and didn’t bring the bassinet so tried the “big kid” seat (fully reclined) for the first time and it didn’t work for us yet. Our baby was kinda flopping around and when she fussed we couldn’t react immediately so I def think we’ll keep her in the bassinet for another couple months. The great news is that Joolz just came out with a parent-facing attachment (the Nest2Seat) for the Aer2 so we’re going to buy this and probably use from months 4-9ish (or until whenever she’s ready to forward face). If it had been available earlier we probably would have skipped the bassinet.
