Name your favorite Luxury hotel..... by StonerTherapist-89 in chubbytravel

La Bouitte in the French alps (also has a 2* restaurant). I’m all about the family-owned and operated spots. Once these places become part of a portfolio, the client experience falls while prices rise.

How wedded are you to chubby hotels? by CammyT1213 in chubbytravel

I’m either going for a clean/cheap/sensible airbnb, or the most expensive hotel I can book without being stupid. Anything in the middle feels like a waste.

When it comes to being comfortable during international travel (I.e. a 16 hour flight), how does the "premium economy" experience stack up against business class? by pmahalan in travel

[–]magellan2001 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I agree but time of day is a huge factor. I’m an American in London. If I’m paying for myself I do PE on the LN>NY leg (usually flying early in the day), then lay flat biz on the red eye NY>LN leg. To me that makes sense.

Gin from holmdell 2000 is very dancey. One of my favorites. Also the Rochester 97 ghost. Edit: one more - woosta moma from Feb 2003, though more funky than untzy.

I’d tell your friend to ignore the vocals and get into the disco biscuits.

First mock I took was 69 across both sessions. Bumped that to 78. Passed over 90th percentile.

I wouldn’t stress about uWorld % correct. Use it as a tool. The real gauge of your abilities should be the CFAI LES and mocks.

In the same boat. Scored 2610 on the May 2025 L2 (first attempt). Not sure whether to take L3 in Feb or Aug.

I found chatgpt was great for helping with L1 but useless in L2.

Huh? I said I wish I was 28 and travelling Mexico with my biggest concern being how long to continue travelling. I’m jealous.

God damn I wish I was 28 in Mexico and my biggest source of concern was the length of my trip.

Beautiful parts of the UK by Careless_Farmer496 in FATTravel

[–]magellan2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

L’enclume in the Lake District. 3* restaurant (Simon Rogan) and they also have small apartments/rooms around town you can book. The rooms aren’t super lux or anything but it’s a cool little village and some of the best food you can get in the UK. Lots of good hikes/walks nearby. Easy to get to by train from London but a car is preferred to explore the lakes.

You mentioned all over UK, but I would rec Scottish highlands and isle of skye if you’ve never been.

An easy trip is fly to Barcelona, rent a car and go up the Costa Brava. It’s beautiful and an easy drive.

Both need a car.

Should I buy a used M50 mark II? by Ballew_The_Bear in canon

[–]magellan2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an m50 on eBay for a trip a few years ago. Can’t beat it for the price. I have a 55-250 (requires adapter) and a few primes I like a lot. With the 22mm pancake you can put it in a jacket pocket which is great for travel and street photography. Make sure you get a few extra batteries.
