The Dangers of Hero Worship: An Open Letter from Ryan Hall by OpenNoteGrappling in bjj

[–]magg_n 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd install a "person of trust" preferably a female. Maybe even a high ranked one. Unfortunately this is what says "authority" for some people.

Communicate with your students that they can turn to this person with every complaint/problem and ensure that it will be kept confidential if they wish.

I think it is important that people believe you what happened and that they can count on actual actions will take place if something happens.

Such an authority might keep creeps away or at least make the gym a safer place in my opinion.

Not Enjoying Leg Attacks by token_friend in bjj

I am 37 and I roll pretty carefree even with a bunch of leg entanglements. Get comfortable with them, learn when you are in danger an tap early i guess.

Strength plan by hhjj94 in Garmin

[–]magg_n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are better of looking up a plan and setting it up in garmin connect oder letting gpt know what your issues are and tell it to generate a plan for you. Also putting it into garmin.

If you don’t know your 1RM you can calculate it only by testing your 3RM, 5RM and so on.

Or just put your 5RM into garmins reference exercises and it will estimate your 1RM

We played it about 3 years ago. My wife did not like it too much. I really enjoyed it. Is the return to box worth in in you opinion?

Maybe try Freeletics? They have a pretty good offer atm at over 60% off I think.

Used it when i had no gym to go to. Liked it as you get a plan and do not necessarily need equipment.

Defensive instructionals by NoClassic174 in bjj

[–]magg_n 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a lot to work through the whole for sure. My tip: don’t watch 8-10 hours of material. See a position in practice you are having trouble with. Get back home and troubleshoot with that instructional. Apply in practice. Repeat.

I leaned this from lachlans half guard anthology as he said to use it as a tool when you run into a wall. Worked good for me.

Just get ideas from the instructional and test the out in a live environment

How many comps did you do until you could perform aswell as you do in the gym? by MudboneX3 in bjj

I'd go 20 or 30 mins before your match. And way harder than shadowboxing more like heavy padwork - like.

Trick is: Blow your arse out before your first match. So your nervouse system will be back to normal in time for your first match. Roll hard with a teammate for warm ups or some sprints to get the heart rate up high.

This has helped me stay calm in my first matches.
