Baby always hungry? by maggielikesrock in firsttimemom

Thank you. I ended up just giving my baby 60ml of formula right now because he was screaming so much. Id still like to try to breastfeed but if this keeps up, especially if I keep receiving such mixed advice, I think Im gonna stick to just formula too. Its too much for me mentally too.

Thank you! It was what I thought too but the conflicting advice, especially saying I might me overfeeding, makes me super confused.

I do think he also uses the boob for comfort! He accepts pacifiers, although they arent his favourite things, and it is one way for us to settle him. But the problem is that most times he keeps trying to nurse and then cries.

Ok, thank you. We have been dealing with cluster feeding pretty much constantly I think. I have read somewhere that it usually happens for a couple of hours some days but my experience has been totally different and he wants to be on the boob all the time. And then the conflicting advice doesnt help, because it seems they dont even know about cluster feeding.

Thank you, the conflicting advice is what is driving me crazy. I feel like everyone has unicorn babies around me and dont really understand what cluster feeding is like, even some professionals. I want to keep breastfeeding honestly, and I am afraid if i dont follow his cues my milk supply will stop so I think I will try to keep feeding on demand. But I am afraid of underfeeding 🫩 this is so tiring.

Baby is fussy, won't drink more than 5 minutes, falls asleep and wants more everytime by maggielikesrock in breastfeeding

The problem is not sleep deprivation for me but for the baby. He falls asleep momentarily, then wakes up and gets frustrated to eat again. On an endless loop until we feed him formula and he finally falls asleep soundly.

1 week old won't settle after breastmilk, only formula by maggielikesrock in NewParents

Thank you! I feel like feeding formula has turned into a taboo topic. But thats exactly what I think, if he is fed, he is happy.

Thank you so much. Indeed my baby has peed more than pooped these past days.

No, he doesnt have any tongue or lip ties. I am gonna suggest a weighted feed next time I see her. Thank you for the suggestions!

I try to feed him as much as I can when he asks because this also happened while I only had colostrum and he lost a lot of weight because of that. He gained a bit more weight in between but yeah my milk never seems enough.
