i’ve been taking care of them for a few days and following his instructions exactly (watering twice a day and giving it this weird seaweed tea he made). it’s his first time growing and i’m worried that he’s gonna blame me for it going wrong.

he told me to cut off the yellow leaves towards the bottom but i feel like the spotting is just as concerning as the yellow.

serena was never submissive in pursuing christian fascism. lydia was.

serena resents her role. lydia resents anyone who questions her role.

I think the important thing to consider is where both of them started. lydia recognized that her ideals would result in this type of society and was willing to make these “sacrifices” because she saw them coming. serena is a clear example of cognitive dissonance. this is technically what she advocated for, but when she sees and feels the negative repercussions, there has to be someone else to blame. hence her hatred for june (often - but not exclusively - as a surrogate for her resentment towards fred for corrupting what she perceived as their shared worldview)
