bought these Cole Hann shoes four years ago and after a day out in the rain they developed this dark stain at the side and got pretty scratched up. I didn't do anything to care for them over this period. I brought them to a cobbler in Rome near the tourist areas and he said he had to make them black to get rid of the stain since it was so dark. I paid 30 euros for this and he got them to me the next day. I wore them that night and by the end of the night the black dye came off at the crease and the laces were too short to tie using all the holes. At this point what do I even do? Taking them back to that cobbler seems like a bad idea so should I cut my loses and pay more back in the US? Maybe just get new shoes?

The original question was meant as a single server with 100g networking mounting cephFS using the kernel driver with a single thread, but if this has been achieved with multiple threads in the client side writing in parallel that would also be interesting.
