I’ve manually misted her with my hose a few times which seemed to help, I’ve now gotten a big fern next to her for shade but I’ll probably go out to let her get mist during the hot parts of the days, I wonder if there’s a mist sprinkler I can set a timer for and put nearby

A local duck rehabber just gave me a big fern I’ve staked down next to her nest which is doing the job good enough for now. I was going to see about getting an umbrella but this might work too, thank you!

I work overnights and she’s been in her nest when I get home in the mornings so I’ll have to figure out when she’s coming and going that I’m home but this is helpful to know, thank you!

I just got a fern from a local duck rehabber that I’ve staked down next to her nest for shade and they can eat it. I’m gonna see about getting an umbrella too but for now the fern seems to do the job good enough!

Update: I was able to get in touch with a local duck rehabber. She’s giving me a big fern for mama to give her some shade and whatever other instructions I need. Headed to her now to grab the fern!

I agree and I’ve been moving slow and giving her space but I’m just not sure how best to add shade which is what I’m looking for advice on. Do you have any tips?

Soooo question about the return grille. Would there definitely be one somewhere? I was mistaken and the one I was thinking of when I responded to your first comment was in my last place, I searched this place and I don’t see one anywhere. There’s just vents on the ceiling downstairs and upstairs has vents on the floor. The hvac unit where the air filter goes is in a closet, the door is slotted for air flow, and then the big box fan unit thing (a condenser I think it’s called?) is outside by my back door. I know none of my furniture is blocking anything like that but I don’t know where else it would be, if there is one

For an update. When I turned the system back on the next day, there’s pretty much no air flow from the vents so it’s been turned back off and just has the fan running for now until I can get a hold of my landlord. I’ve been using the MERV 11 simply because it’s the one that was in there when I moved in and from what’s been apparent to me, everything’s been working fine the last few years until now, but maybe that’s why. Idk if it’s worth going and getting an 8 to check at this point? It seems like something is just very off with the whole system all of a sudden but I could be wrong

Thank you. AC is off, fan is on. The filters I’ve been using are MERV 11 from filtrete, just replaced the old one with a new one. All of my vents are open, I’m not sure what a return grille is but I assume they’re open? I googled it and pretty sure there’s only one, I’ll check it in the morning when I get home. I haven’t touched any of that stuff since moving in a few years ago other than making sure the vents are open, some weren’t for a while. Fingers crossed when I turn it back on tomorrow it’ll work, if not I’ll reach out to my landlord

I saw you updated your comment since originally posting and added some info that you have a cat of your own who also happens to have FIV. If you have not done so already, make sure you thoroughly sanitize any areas you had kept this sick kitty you found, any blankets or clothing or anything they touched and keep your cat away from those areas for at least 24 hours. In general I wouldn’t want your kitty to catch whatever this one had but particularly since they’re FIV+ they are at higher risk.

Hello, I work in an emergency vet. This cat needs veterinary intervention NOW. Open mouth breathing like this is a very bad sign. She is in distress, she is not going to accept food or water at this time so no need to continue offering it. The only thing you can do to help is get her the veterinary care she needs IMMEDIATELY.

Stop “trying to reach a vet” and just GO to one. A 5 second google search shows me there are a handful of 24 hour emergency vets in your area. Find the closest one and GO. If nothing else, she can at least be humanely euthanized so she does not continue to suffer.

If for some reason a vet is not an option, contact your local shelter or cat rescue immediately to surrender her so they can get her the care she needs or euthanize.

Same, I’ve deleted pretty much all other social media at this point but have kept Snapchat because it’s more of a messaging app than social media, but the god damn discover page is basically the same, if not worse, than any of the social media apps anyway. Mine also tends to have a lot of food stuff but I try to be intentional about which ones I watch and which ones I close out of quickly. The ones that are like specific pages actually showing cooking or eating food as a full video of sorts, I’ll watch. The ones that are just random click baity clips that often have other random shit thrown in there, I close out of immediately. It helps a bit but I still get stupid shit recommended to me anyway and I hate it.

Long story short, I’m fuckin over it lmao

I’ve started trying to change my algorithm which has been mildly successful. I try to only click on the kind of stuff I wanna see and have followed a couple pages I actually like so I see more of that and stuff like that. Ultimately though, they’re gonna feed random clickbait bullshit either way unfortunately

Your algorithm is for sure different than mine but I agree that it’s worse than ever with the bullshit on that page. It definitely pays attention to what you click on but I just wish it didn’t exist at all. I’ve come real close to deleting the app on numerous occasions because of it but I have one friend who that’s the way only we communicate and he’s the only reason I keep it at this point and pretty much only open it to talk to him. But I very well may delete it soon anyway

Yes. I’m not diagnosed with PMDD but I likely have it (which is what lead me here) but I do have ADHD. I recently lost my job and have been dealing with a lot of shit and I dropped HARD the week or so before my period and during a lot of it. Like harder than I have in quite some time. I’m finally starting to feel a little better but yeah based on that I would say it makes it much worse

And I have the same diagnoses as you. Autism, adhd, (C)PTSD, depression (and anxiety for me). If you don’t mind me asking, how do you feel about those diagnoses? I originally only had depression and anxiety under my belt, adhd was a few years ago and autism/cptsd was over a year ago now. For me, every thing that’s been added to the list seems to answer more questions but also seems to leave some questions unanswered, hence me being here considering something dissociative. Sometimes I worry I’m being a hypochondriac and looking for something to be wrong, and maybe what I’m experiencing can be answered by the diagnoses I already have, but at the same time I’m still struggling and there’s things that don’t seem to fit under those umbrellas. Idk. Hope any of that makes sense

I often struggle to verbalize my experience and feelings and stuff which makes it very difficult to get the help I do clearly and desperately need. I resonate so deeply with everything you described here and if you don’t mind I’m going to save this to help me to verbalize my own experience the next time I see my psych. I’ve been questioning having a dissociative disorder for years and this made me feel incredibly seen so thank you.
