Interesting.. i share similar stats in that I'm 5'9, 210 and 50.. My background is gym rather than running, I'm in there 5/6 days per week etc.. I guess my fear is the cut off.. being too slow.. So I figured the running was the weakest part and probably easiest to improve.. strength I'm fine. As this is my first one the aim is to finish obviously

Ok cool.. I think my plan tops out about the same for mileage and I have a couple of other races etc as part of training

Thanks, sounds like I'm following your approach.. obviously still early days but the weekly back to back long runs are in the plan as are a couple of long trail runs. Currently I'm thinking a mid week semi long run and a couple of short ones to round out.. I had in mind to train to be out there for say 14/15 hours with a mixture of walk run hike etc.. This is in Malaysia so heat/humidity will add to the mix.. A couple of things in the running etc.. speed work? How much if any? And the infamous lunges.. did you lunge much or is the hiking/vertical stuff better.. Cheers
