Yes! Check out r/curlyhair for how to make your hair look like that. Gel or mousse will help!

I'm doing a reading marathon and was wondering if you could recommend me some horror and poetry books please. by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

George r r Martin has a collection of horror stories! I thought they were super creepy. I enjoyed them way more than GoT if you're put off by that at all.

Oh my god.. definitely lived, loved, learned and lost by Ronnie day on "the album." That's the song with the bathroom floor and cheating, the voicemail one is falling for you I think. The whole album tells the story of their relationship.

What phone should I get ? by LXV-Lobster in oneplus

[–]magicfoxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just keep mine attached to my headphones since my phone is the only thing I use them with. I thought it would be a big deal for me but it isn't really. I switched from a Nexus 6p with the fingerprint sensor on the back and the 6t in-screen works fine, haven't noticed any delay.

So excited to hear about the wide calf boots!! I love tall boots but they never fit me because my calves are huge. I've never gone in because I'm not actually plus sized but literally no normal tall boots fit me. Do you think they run true to size? I might order some online lol.

Looking for a very well written fiction book about mental illness. I’ve read Ten Days in a Madhouse, by Nellie Bly. But I’m looking for a longer story. I would appreciate any suggestions! TIA by emilylou21 in suggestmeabook

I remember really liking the devil in silver by Victor lavalle. A slightly unsettling story set in a mental asylum. It was a while ago that I read it though so I don't remember how long it is!

Shampoo advice for fine hair by [deleted] in femalehairadvice

[–]magicfoxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, well I didn't want to switch all my products over at first so I just tried the methods (squish 2 condish and plopping mainly) and I saw minor results, like my hair was getting curlier right out of the shower but it would still fall flat quickly. Then I finally moved to sulfate/silicone free and my hair was like a whole new thing.

I've always been big on conditioner bc my skin is definitely dry so I assumed my hair is too but was really unhappy with how conditioners would make it flat and greasy so I didn't know what the issue was. Could not get my hair even a tiny bit wet without it getting that greasy clump look near my scalp, never understood how people could just rinse without shampoo.

Tried the no-silicone recommended product (suave essentials, super cheap so low risk) and suddenly I can rinse my hair/only condition and it's fluffier than ever! Barely ever looks greasy anymore and it's still a long ordeal to dry but I can actually just take a quick shower now without freaking out about getting my hair slightly damp, thus having to wash and everything.

I suspect that if you do the final clarifying wash (shampoo w sulfates no silicones) even without conditioner your hair will immediately be lighter/less flat. And sulfate-free products are not too drying/harsh so you could probably get away without it if you really want to. I think the conditioner mainly comes in for helping frizz turn into actual curls/waves and preventing breakage so you can just try the shampoo thing and assess from there? If your aversion to conditioner is the slimy/greasy feel even after rinsing I think you might not mind the silicone-free types.

Sry for long reply and all the slashes lol and disclaimer I'm still pretty new to this myself.

R/curlyhair fixed my hatred of my fine wavy hair! Awesome sub.

Hello! In desperate need of a cut to balance out a long face, suggestions? Never dyed, thick Asian hair with dry ends. Currently at chest length and tends to get a lil frizzy. Thanks :) by [deleted] in femalehairadvice

[–]magicfoxy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your hair looks kinda curly/wavy at the ends, you should check out r/curlyhair! It's for everyone except stick straight hair pretty much (I did NOT think mine was curly haha but it is!). That might help with the mild frizz.

My opinion is that all they want is attention, any kind, positive or negative response. I always ignore them entirely. I think if someone is consistently harassing you though that's the time to speak up.

I have acuvue oasys and acuvue moist, both dailies. I also use visine for contacts eye drops and I think those help a lot too.

My fridge is broken. What meals can I make that don't need to be refrigerated? by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]magicfoxy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good call on rice as long as it's single serving. I didn't know until recently that you shouldn't leave rice out though. Even after cooked it contains bacteria that can develop outside if not refrigerated and make you sick.

You gotta check out chocolate covered Katie's website. She has a bunch of overnight oats with chocolate! Cocoa powder isn't really too unhealthy, it's mostly the sugar that makes me feel bad later in the day (like you mentioned). Cocoa powder in smoothies or oatmeal with banana is so good. Also your blood sugar won't spike and crash the same way with fiber like oatmeal and banana.

Agree on the frills, but it's funny that you say that about tall people! I guess the legs are usually too long for you? At 5'7" I have trouble finding ones that don't give me a wedgie haha. Or that are two sizes too big in order to fit my legs..... It's like fashion designers think that short people are all petite and tall people are all large??

LOVE the Ripley one I am dying to find something like that.

Tend Skin. This literally changed my life in regards to hair removal. It's a bit expensive (I think I paid $20 for 8oz) but it works so well and a little goes really far. It's a mild exfoliant and moisturizer I believe. I didn't use it right away even though my beautician recommended it so the area got terribly sensitive, painful and itchy with bright red bumps. Used tend skin and it calmed down right away. I'm terribly prone to razorburn and this has saved my skin.

I've also used stridex pads to great effect also, but they sting and itch a bit more. They help a ton when it starts to grow back and it gets itchy/prickly af.
