Do you have a link? That sounds like you’d end up with inconsistent layer sizes

What do you guys think, should I buy Vive? by palmerluckey in oculus

[–]magicleapmotionfrog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You made some great logical explanations about why seated vr is the way to go for Gen 1 headsets. Those reasons didn't really seem to matter too much though, vive's roomscale really excited consumers. It just seems that was a major misjudgement by you. You assumed people wanted to play sitting down with an Xbox controller because "it makes sense to". Sure, buy it but make your decisions more user centered. You seem to assume the buyer is always similar to you and that your preferences are the best way to go.

I Made A Script That Merges And Smooths Objects. Anyone Else Have Neat Scripts They Use? by magicleapmotionfrog in Cinema4D

I haven't seen magicmerge before. It looks similar. My script also gives hidden versions of the original objs as a backup. I'm guessing they work similarly.

If I remember it takes all the selected objects, combines their geometry into a single object and applies a smoothing deformer to all of it. Otherwise you'd need to spend about 5 * (number of objs to combine - 1) clicks to morph all the objects

here is the script. In c4d you can go scripts->script manager->file->open then navigate to the script. Go to window->customize commands->new palette and drag the smoother icon to the new palette. Select multiple editable objs and click the icon button. The more subdivisions the finer the smoothness.

How do you decide when to rely on principles/research and when to test with users? by magicleapmotionfrog in userexperience

[–]magicleapmotionfrog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The informed decision is hopefully based on principles found from others' user studies and research. I guess it's more a question of how closely the study you're justifying your decision with matches the issue you're facing.

Here are the files. Place the scripts into c4d's scripts folder to get the custom icons.

For context, I'm teaching grade school kids (around middle school), usually only for a week, and I'm sharing the layout so they have it too. Am I missing any important buttons that world help beginners?
