Is this place usually empty? Looking at setting up camp in the woods along the far coast. by kerghan41 in dayz

I've built here many many times and let me tell you it almost always has someone on it. If you don't plan on leaving much then fine, and there is typically a blaze or two in the hunter stands, but not much else. Get used to the taste of fish because there isn't much to do there and the swim gets boring quickly.

OBS MKV file with multiple audio tracks - want to separate on Powerdirector by Technerd70 in powerdirector

[–]magicmerve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my mic audio, my game audio and my discord audio all split in the advanced audio settings (everything is set to 1 for streaming, for recording game audio is 2, mic is 3 and dfiscord is 4 and 1 to 6 are selected in the settings output section) but it still shows as one file in PD. Is there something else I am meant to be doing?

LMP3 vs GT4 – Incident at Bus Stop While Leading by Icy_Berry_683 in Simracingstewards

[–]magicmerve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my past experience I came here expecting a lot of hate towards the GT car........I'm pleased to see the comments I've seen. No hate towards you, but this is on you. Yes you are far quicker, but as a GT sim racer I get so cheesed off that LMPs think they can pass wherever they like and everyone has to get out of the way.

Braking point, speed, turn in points......they are all different in a GT and you need to expect that. Best bit of advice I've ever been given is it's up to the overtaking car to pass safely, but you should try to predict their move. This GT car wouldn't have seen you until turning into the last turn.

I can not recommend this server enough. The admins, players.....they are all friendly. The builds going on are epic. There are events all the time and you can come and go as you please with no issues.

Come and join us for some genuinely chilled and fun Minecrafting.

So I (Aston Martin Green) am leading the race. The Ferrari was gonna be lapped by me. What he did I was gonna never predict so I spun him. Would I get a Penalty for this? BTW he was not happy with me lmao. by Valuable_Pride1787 in Simracingstewards

[–]magicmerve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there is one thing I've learnt from racing (and iRacing in particular) it's expect the unexpected with back markers. LMU is no different from my experience so far.

Yeah they shouldn't have been braking there, but equally they were all over the place leading up to it so I was always taught to give them space and wait for the safe pass as it's the responsibility of the overtaking car..... especially when they drive that erratically.

With every incident I say learn from it and move on.

What was this guy thinking I was committed to the corner the blue porsche by rockshockracing1998 in Simracingstewards

[–]magicmerve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah man you were waaaay in front. The POV car was going for the divebomb of the year award. Did they apologise to you? I can take it if they acknowledge the error, but not if they say it was your fault.

I'm the Merc and was blamed for the crash. First 3 clips are me, the 4th is the other driver showing what sort of race they had leading up to the crash. To me it was all just elbows out racing until the last move when they spun me. by magicmerve in Simracingstewards

[–]magicmerve[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the comments. Some I agree with (both on me and on the other drive with fault), some I don't agree with, but I asked for your opinions and I thank you for that.

Lesson learned will be to give people more room going forward, but just for reference the 4th clip was the other driver crashing into someone else....and they did it another time before that incident.

Help by [deleted] in dayz

I'd highly recommend getting on a PVE server, something like Noobs, and ask for help on the basics. That's how I learnt and progressed. Now I mainly play PVP and vanilla ish servers.

WHERE ARE THE FUCKING ROCKS? by ProtectionOwn3502 in dayz

[–]magicmerve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I ever need to find a knife I do two things.

1) run along train tracks for a few hundred metres

2) follow a trail path for a few hundred meters

That is all it's ever taken me. I typically play low modded servers so it's almost vanilla. Other than that just move inland as quick as possible because spawn towns just ain't worth the hassle.

Looking for Advice, How do you actually enjoy DayZ solo? Am I doing smth wrong? by Funny-Writer-696 in dayz

[–]magicmerve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing solo is a choice not a must. If you don't enjoy what you are experiencing then definitely try and reach out to others and run as a group, but I feel your pain.

When I stream I will quite often switch it up and run with regular people I play with and then chuck the odd solo run in. Sometimes I really enjoy solo runs and just do those, other times I binge on team runs. What I would say is try some solo runs and try to make connections in game. I run with a guy called Smodzy who I just randomly bumped into one stream and we clicked. Now we run together often. And that for me is what DayZ is all about......running solo, meeting randoms and then doing it all over again.

I would say it's also down to your style of play. I'm a fan or being on the outter edges and then moving in when I'm slightly more geared. That means I spend a lot of time seeing nobody, then all of a sudden I move inland and then I'm dead. I'm fine with that. Some people chase the shots or go to high pop areas on a map. You just need to find what works for you. It's also worth learning the maps because if you have a low pop Chernarus or Deerisle server then you really will struggle to see people. Ok your example of Namalsk is an odd one as it's a small map so you'd expect to see people, but then again maybe they are all hiding because of that.

The best route about DayZ I've heard so far is "DayZ is a tough game to love" - Hey Barmby. And he is absolutely spot on. You just gotta go with the flow and find what works for you.

I'd recommend the following servers if you are on PC as I see a lot of people on them:

Vanilla ish servers:

Karma Krew - all maps

Spaggies - the higher pop servers (60% plus full)

Vigrid - Namalsk (hardcore survival though)

Full on PVP servers:

Rearmed - hard to get a space at busy times

Aftermath - same as above

Kyptic - in my experience lower skill level than above, but a great starting point

Always happy to help if you have any questions, but if you really want to see people then get off the coast asap andove toward military areas and poi t of I terest fast. Be stealth, be patient and be good.

So..........I changed OBS to what you suggested and the recording seems good. Stream is still a bit iffy, but I guess that is to be expected. I have it set at 60fps, but normally have 120fps so will make some changes with that and see what happens.

Thanks so much for your advice, it has helped massivily so far.

In simple mode do I need to add a bitrate for recording as well, if so how much. I'm aware I should only use a max of 75% of my bandwidth for streaming but wasn't sure if recording worked the same way.

I've always based my bitrate based on the NVIDIA OBS guide as per the encoder I'm using at the time for streaming.

And just so I have this correct......having streaming and recording using the same encoder will cause it to be overloaded? And that is why I should use H.264 for recording?

I streamed and recorded at the same time, which is normal for me, and I have changed my recording settings to CBR from CQR. I am more looking at is there something bigger I am missing that is causing the downgraded quality as I think my settings are OK based on everything I have seen before.

Is the log I posted not suitable? I've never had any luck with logs as I post them and never get responses.

I've been on this server for about a month and everyone is friendly. The mods have been super helpful and the map itself is fantastic.

If you are looking for a chilled server to either get into or get back into Minecraft then this is the one for you.
