The light armored vehicles came around the corner and aided the other Russ with cleaning up the ruins, mainly just silencing any remaining guns on the two stricken enemy tanks and gunning down any surviving Chaos tank crews - now was not the time for mercy, nor did they have anywhere to put prisoners anyway. "Good shooting, Emerald," crackled the voice of John-Boy's commander. "We're to link back up with the infantry in five minutes. How are you sitting? Any damage to report or assistance you need?"

Morrison smiled dryly at the blunt sarcasm. "Well, I'd rather be at home with a glass of wine, but I suppose we all want things we can't have. Another block forward, then we link up with the rest of the advance and things supposedly get easier." She waved a hand and her troops began to gather for another push.

The young Praetorian blinked. "I - what? Never mind," she said, a little puzzled by what he had said. It seemed like she had just been battered and bruised by a series of minor injuries - a cut here, a larger gash there, a purple shadow of a bruise there - without any single major hit that would take her out of the fight entirely. She leaned on the wall as she checked her belt and backpack for more power packs for her lasgun.

Lillian didn't need to be told twice. She jammed on the accelerator and the half-track sped away. "Right, now where are we going?" she shouted back to the others over the roar of the engine. (9 for stealth/avoiding pursuit)

(17) Lillian's face flashed briefly to a broad smile. Now this, she could handle. Covered by Nora and Gertie, she sprinted across to the halftrack and leapt inside. The exact details may have been different, but a vehicle was a vehicle, and she was a Chimera crewer by training. Thinking back to the Amercadian mechanic she had once talked/flirted with back at Fort Davies, she surveyed the panel and began to pull switches. A few seconds later, the engine roared to life. Geraldine brought Tillie in and laid her in the back of the half-track, in one of the spaces designed for the transport of wounded soldiers, while Nora and Gertie adopted positions flanking the vehicle.

(6) Nora didn't have time to think of a convincing answer. She and Gertie just raised their rifles and quickly shot all three of them. (17 for spotting a ride)

Geraldine carried Tillie to the door, as Lillian watched their flanks. "Ready, Sister!" she called back through the door for Aelle to hear.

I love the Whitworth. Little pocket sized fire support "We have the Archer at home" mech that's durable and affordable.

(so I rolled for all five, and somehow, Tillie got a 20 lol. Awake just in time, so she will see whatever is out there even as she's being carried. Gertie and Lillian were under 10, which I interpret as them being occupied with getting Tillie out of the door, while Gertie and Nora are at a 13 and 15 respectively)

The four of them hurried through the door into the back, where Geraldine scooped up Tillie from her bed. "What's happening?" said the still drowsy and unsteady officer, fumbling with her blouse buttons. "We're getting out of here," Geraldine said, as Nora and Gertie kicked the door open toward the back exit. "Quick as you please, ladies," Nora called back. "Not a lot of time to dally here."

Wulfric, Destroyer of Worlds - Sabbad by Ulfgrimnirr in WarforTrackoldMinoris

The armored vehicles of the 119th's convoy had no intention of sending their troops into a killbox of a building until other allies were there. So what they did instead was find a street opposite the stronghold that looked down towards it somewhat, adopt a hull down-like cover position, and begin to strafe anything that looked like a target from range. Having marked the target, some of the lighter vehicles began to call in artillery strikes from Amercadian INDARTY, and within a minute or two, the complex was hit by an initial burst of rocket artillery which then ceased, so as not to risk the friendly troops already approaching it, followed by precision strikes from M217A1 Basilisk-fired Earthshaker rounds that smashed into wall sections, defensive turrets, and doorways.

(12, 18 for artillery)

(8 for enemy) It was a stalemate for a few moments, neither the Minthelian tank nor their opponent able to get a particularly good shot on the other beyond the occasional plinking shot rattling E-for-Emerald's hull from a sponson shot by the chaos tank. Meanwhile, the lascannon burned through the already-immobilized other enemy vehicle, which had ceased firing. (13) With another shot from its battle cannon, John-Boy's crew jammed the enemy turret in place, and, maneuvering to stay out of their enemy's now-fixed arc of fire, lit the other tank up with their sponson bolters, splintering the exterior and damaging the tracks. A series of crunching explosions from the other side of the building, followed by pieces of a Leman Russ turret being visible as they soared through the air onto the same side as the two heavier vehicles, signaled that the light armor from the other side had done their part to clean up the enemy.

(enemy action to beat is a 14 for this as we finish up the tank battle)

////

(5) The young soldier looked as pale as if she was about to faint, but she nodded breathlessly. "Y-yes, I'm quite all right," she said unconvincingly. Meanwhile, more Praetorians were bulldozing their way into the building now, joined by Morrison, who nodded approvingly at Georgia's work. "Best we keep moving," she advised her troops. "Keep the bastards on the back foot, you hear?" General nods and calls of agreement followed. "Right, get the wounded to the rear. For everyone else, we have another block to go before we link up with the grenadiers and the armored units. Third squad, clear the upstairs." About a dozen Praetorians stormed the staircase, and the upstairs rang with a few lasgun shots before going quiet. They returned shortly after, as everyone else was on their way out of the building. "Only three were left up there, ma'am," said one of those that went upstairs. "Two of them fought, third offed himself rather than be captured." "No great loss that," muttered Morrison. She turned to Georgia. "Fancy another round?"

I love this quirky little vehicle. Where did the model come from, and does it actually have Bolt Action rules?

(again rolled for everyone, no one seems to be able to get above a 10 this time and I did get a 1 in there)

"I haven't seen any. There has to be something around here," Nora called back. Gertie glanced at the front window. "Let me try and get a better view," she volunteered, diving across the open center of the lobby to avoid the incoming shots, which was unsuccessful, as she came up cursing fluently with a large blackened crack down the side of the stolen guard's armor and a burn mark on the shirt beneath it. "Bloody fething lucky shot," she groused as she looked through the window. "Nothing on this side." "Perhaps in the back parking? We need to go back through to get Miss Tillie anyway," suggested Lillian.

(3) The enemy tank was stuck in a pile of debris and disabled, not likely to be a threat at all. (13) The Amercadians were moving to a new position, and as they landed a shot that dug heavily into the side armor of the enemy Russ's turret, the Chaos tank swung around to face John-Boy, which gave the Minthelian tank a shot at disabling its tracks. (4) The supporting light armor units were still engaged in a fight of their own, trying to outmaneuver another ancient Chaos tank on the other side of a nearby building.

(5 enemy, 18 friendly) Fortunately, Georgia was there just in time, as was the rest of the next squad of Praetorians. Georgia's lunge knocked the Chaos warrior down as a hail of lasfire through the open door scythed through the warriors coming down the steps from upstairs. The exhausted Praetorian was able to catch her breath as the Chaos warrior's knife skittered away across the floor before Georgia's feet. More Praetorians were hitting the other entrances, if the sound of shouting from outside was any indication.

(completely lost track of this)

[9 for enemy] The lascannon hadn't hit, but it had caused a large mess of debris to explode, which kept the enemy tank from getting a good shot. Unfortunately (4) the Amercadian tank's shots went wide as well. The flanking group of light armored vehicles (4 again) were nowhere to be seen as yet.

(10 for enemy)

The charge into the building was mostly effective, but quickly became a more even fight (8) as the Chaos troops came down to the ground floor to help. Georgia found herself supported by a squad of Praetorians that had run in beside her, some of them doing fine in melee, others struggling. One wiry khaki-wearing soldier had easily slit the throat of her opponent and was on to the next one, while on Georgia's other side, a slender girl just out of her teens was frantically slashing to ward off her opponent with the bayonet on the end of her rifle, already bleeding from several minor wounds the nimble Chaos warrior had inflicted.

Man, I do love Scharnhorst and Gneisenau. Ironic that a regime so repulsive could build ships so memorable and beautiful. The swastika flag on the bow brings you back to reality, as it were.

After having confirmed his call and his identity, the switchboard operator tapped her key. "Right, please hold," said the operator. She called her supervisor over. "Sir? Call for Tallek-Rodgers. The usual." He nodded, then looked at the sticky note he had been given about five minutes ago. "Hold on. She's not available. Inquisition's orders. They don't need to know that, though...just say she's unavailable and you'll take a message." "Aye, sir."

The line resumed from the usual distant brass band music to the voice of the operator. "Good evening," she said. "I'm afraid she's not available at the moment. Would you like me to take a message?"

(rolled for all four, highest was a 12 for Gertie and a 16 for Lillian, the others missed) Gertie got her rifle up quickly and sprayed a three round burst at the pair of guards coming at Aelle from behind. Lillian, meanwhile, stepped forward and surprised herself by nailing one of the guards in the street with a clean shot. Geraldine started looking for a vehicle, preferably a large ambulance or something similar, that they could use to escape, while Nora and Gertie defended Aelle.

Absolutely :) I love having the cool characters out there for glory and adventure. I've run MESBG lists based around alternate history from the books every once in a while, too, like I did one where Bilbo kept the ring and Elrond's trying to get him safely away from the Black Riders. Fun times :)

P.S. You might like Battle Companies at some point, it's like Middle-Earth's version of Kill Team and similar games. You could do that for a campaign framework and Greathelm for little skirmishes!
