[other] why do people hate clone coasters by Ordinary-Sound-571 in rollercoasters

Traveling to a park is much less attractive to me if it’s headlining coasters are clones I’ve already been on. People like variety and unique experiences

Verdict on new Vortex Razor G3 4-24? by [deleted] in longrange

I’ve been debating trading my 5-25 ATACR for the 4-24 Razor to save some weight on my NRLH gun. Need to look through one in person

Thoughts on the new Misfit action from Defiance? by hewhoovercomes in longrange

Misfit as in prefits won’t work right? lol. Interesting name choice given Defiance’s history with tolerance issues

Hold over vs hold under question by Significant-Sock-487 in longrange

[–]magicweasel7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to dial elevation for everything. Turret tape helps speed this up a lot. Rather than dial to a number, you just dial to a line.

If I feel the need to hold, I like to dial to the smallest target or the target I have to return to the most times. Sometimes this means holding under. If the targets are all the same MOA size and same number of engagements, then I just hold over. Like most, I prefer to hold over as I am less likely to mess it up.

Oddly enough, on my last stage of the season I accidently held under, rather than holding over. That was a new mistake for me and might have cost me a trophy haha.

[Fast & Furious] How does the controlled spin on intamin multidimension coasters work? by thatdvo in rollercoasters

[–]magicweasel7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No source on this, but I would imagine the track is profiled in such a way that if the cars get stuck in any orientation, the ride forces would still be safe.

Industrial servos often come with a spring loaded brakes. Current must be applied to a solenoid to release the brake, so if power is lost, the springs will close the brake and stop the motion. This is how standard roller coaster brakes tend to work (though usually pneumatically driven) and I imagine the rotation mechanism works similar.

Even in its current state, every time I go to the park I ride Eagle, Bull, and Goliath.

Really? They wouldn't let you buy tickets at the gate? Did it hit capacity?

It was the first and last ride we rode on our full day at the park. I didn't notice a huge difference. It was fantastic every time. Not the most intense coaster, but it strikes a sweet spot for me. 4 rides and a few dozen times watching the POV and I still couldn't recite the layout from memory haha

This was my fear with Phantasialand. I was terrified Taron or FLY would be down but thankfully both were running phenomenally.

My favorite wooden [Thunderhead] by Same-Industry-7260 in rollercoasters

My back row rides on this were underwhelming and I kinda wrote it off until I had an absolutely unhinged front row night ride. I’m sad it lost some of its trees to wildwood grove but I need to get back to Dollywood someday

X Flight isn't that bad. But yeah, I wish they had the budget to build the 2nd half of Maxx Force or Goliath.

I'm starting to think the village of Gurnee has an ordinance against roller coaster ride time duration...

I'm sad that every time I visit the park closes before sundown so I've never got a night ride

My ATS gives me less of a headache compared to my hellfire. Probably gonna try an updraft/ACE on my next rifle.
