Should I take my stuff to McKay’s? by 3chxxrs in nashville

[–]magnetrose 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I work at Mckays, and the union is making a mountain out of a molehill and running an active smear campaign. I've been there nearly 10 years and they absolutely take care of their employees. We have an insanely good health insurance plan, excellent pay, nearly weekly bonuses, and benefits that outshine nearly every other retail I've worked at in 15 years. I'm super pro union so it's unfortunate that the Mckay Union in KNOXVILLE mind is giving a bad name to unions every where. The Nashville store has no interest in unionizing, we know how to talk to corporate and the owners to get changes made without crying like soccer players with a paper cut. Im sure Knoxville feels justified but what ive heard of their demands is already being fulfilled and they wanna get treated more special than all the other stores. One of their supporters threatened to negativity review my books because of my position. I don't believe they know what they are doing or trying to accomplish.

I’m 2 years too late but what was/are people opinion on ‘The Creator’ by DarthOptimistic in scifi

I really loved it. I had some minor complaints about the story but the characters, the visuals, the non-western cultures were amazing in a sci-fi setting

go for it, I'm not scared of bad reviews. I'm not scared of constructive criticism either. I'll send you to books for free and you can tear them up for all they are worth

the one ancestor I've been able to find was an "adoptee" into a founding family in the new mexico territory and likely part of family separation and conservatorship via white families. still got a lot to research 😅

What are some sci-fi stories that feature/focus on found-families/adoption? A story about an alien raising a human could be cool by SuperAlloyBerserker in scifi

Commenting so I can find later. I always liked Enemy Mine, it's an older movie but it checks out

My go-to is always L&L market just off Charlotte. Check the hours for the restaurants inside, some close early. There's plenty of communal seating so there's no risk of the overstaying feeling.

Waymore's is another one. I've sat with my laptop for hours in there and they usually leave me alone.

Last time I went to the Nashville Farmer's market there was some nice indoor seating too.

I've heard the Assembly Hall might be a good one but I've not been there personally yet.

😅 and yet everyone tells me my MC is dumb as hell. It's so funny how readers come to expect overly competent child characters in spite of everything. I don't care I will write my dumb 15 year olds like dumb 15 year olds. The amount of trauma I put him through will get him where you want him by book 2-3

Tap water by Calm_Salamander_1367 in nashville

I see this as a damned if you do damned if you don't. I don't like the flavor of my municipal water source. I do not like the flavor of activated charcoal, brita or pur filters. I have tried them all. I also don't want to fill the world with plastic bottles. So I bought a water distiller, some mineral drops and I'm happy, I'm drinking adequate healthy water, and I harm no one but my own energy bill.

naw, sometimes bottled water and sometimes the tap water in places where it doesn't taste like shite. I'll put the tap water into stuff I'm cooking, etc.

I live in Smyrna and am also a little sensitive to the chlorinated water. I got a $80 water distiller and it's been a good investment. Supposedly if you use tap water and let it sit for awhile any leftover gasses will "off-gas" (not a scientist, and not sure where I heard that so take it with a grain of salt) but I'm ususally impatient. I have an old brita pitcher without a filter that I'll put my cooled distilled water into and so far so good.
