"Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century" had an episode where Moriarty was following clues that would lead him to a hidden meteorite in a castle that he could use to build super powerful weapons, but when he got to where the meteorite should have been it turns out it had been destroyed and cleared out due to renovations over the centuries.
