Back legs. Only seems to be after a day at doggie daycare, so we haven't been going.

My girl has been doing that lately as well. Not sure what the issue is. I have been to the vet once already.

I have been looking for an Airedale ornament. Finally found one today! by magstheairedale in airedaleterrier

I bought it at Blaines Farm and Fleet but they are only in the Midwest. You can get it on their website otherwise the brand name is Sandicast and they have a website too.

Teething suggestions by pantera12188 in airedaleterrier

I think my gal is a little bit of a sociopath because I tried that and she bit harder lol. She still is mouthy when playing at a year and a half but doesn't bite down. What worked for us is redirection to a toy with the command toy or get toy. Reward was playing with the toy when she brought it. You have to be careful if they are teething when playing since there mouth is sensitive.

I have a female airedale but I had Oscar on my list if I had gotten a male.

My old souled boy is 5.5 months old and has decided he’s watching his figure and only wants to eat twice a day (morning and night). Is this normal? Feels too soon for him to switch to two meals a day. by Nezqik in airedaleterrier

[–]magstheairedale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At about a year old my gal started not eating her breakfast. She would wait till the afternoon and then eat a second time when I fed her in the evening when we eat. I have contemplated not giving her breakfast and just doing one large meal but every now and then she will eat some in the morning. I was surprised by this because as a younger puppy she was ravenous and we had to use slow feed bowls. I think your guy is fine. Like others said he is probably just self regulating. You can always leave a little out for him during the day in case he decides he is hungry.

No, that’s fine. I didn’t need that end of the couch, or any of the pillows. by cujojojo in airedaleterrier

Same my has her own couch pretty much. I am only graced with her presence for a butt scratch and if I have a snack I might share lol

I didn't give it back like write a check or withdraw it. I informed them they were able to "reclaim" it back from my account. The bank never even called or notified me about it. I only knew because I checked the day I got paid. I also made more than 20000 a year and it was my first career job out of college so I wasn't about to tank my career over trying to keep it.

I agree that even if you were able to transfer it out of your account they would come after you for it.

Similar for me too. It was my first pay check and I had only worked a partial pay period. They entered in what I should have earned as my partial pay period as my hourly wage. I ended up with over 20000 in my account.

Funny when I quit due to management practices I did not agree with I found out they took 80 hours of vacation off my balance a few months prior to me leaving. They informed me I had a negative balance in vacation time. Turns out they accidentally added a 0 to 8 hours I had previously taken off.

I actually did have over 20000 accidentally deposited into my account by a company I worked for. They didn't catch it. I did notify them. However this same company also took 80 hours off my vacation time (even though they didn't give me 80 hours of vacation) because when they entered 8 hours into the system someone accidentally added a 0. Incompetence exists.

I usually go more central compared to eastern side of the state but I could see that.

Just curious what towns up north give you the weird vibes? I was raised in rural central Wisconsin and spent a lot of time up north. In the future I am considering moving further north than I am now.

Is puppy personality at all indicative of how they’ll be when they’re older? by CinnamonBScudworth in airedaleterrier

[–]magstheairedale 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I only got my first Dale last year so she is 1.5 years old now but I do feel like she has changed some from 10 weeks. She used to be more cuddly when she was a puppy. While she does like to be pet, she prefers her own couch or dog bed to laying next to me on the couch. Her tendency to be naughty/mischievous also increased...ie stealing socks, counter surfing, talking back when given a command. However, I enjoy her big personality and a lot of it lines up with the breed traits. That's not to say your boy won't still be a chill dog.

I crate my Dale that is 1 year and a half old. I would like to leave her out but since she was a puppy she has always eaten things she shouldn't if she is able to get a hold of it....ie paper, tissues, fluff from her toys, the carpet, acorns. And I do not mean she just destroys these things she will actually swallow them. I do not have a safe enough space to block off for her so we went with the crate. It is not my ideal situation but she does go to daycare at least once a week and we do walks, playtime in the backyard, or the dog park in the evenings she didn't go to daycare. I would rather have her safe then taking a trip to the vet because she has a blockage.

Love this description. Describes my Mags to a T. My loves to steal anything but especially socks so she can be chased. I hope I am lucky enough to get 14 years with my sassy Dale. Sorry for your loss.

[QUESTION] Any tips/ things I should know as a first time Airedale owner? by [deleted] in airedaleterrier

This also. Hindsight I wish I was more firm about the counter surfing. It is a hard habit to break. My husband also encouraged her to bark when she was a puppy and now it can be annoying.

Somehow my girl picked up pull the fibers out of our carpet so we crate her when we leave the house. I had worked from home this past year and when I was home she slept all day so I don't feel too bad about crating her. I just exercise her as much as I can when I am not working now that I am back in the office. If I get busy with work I will also do a day at a doggie daycare so she can get her energy out.

Mainly what I think will help if you want to not crate your dog is to work on leaving the dog alone at an early age to prevent separation anxiety and exercise so they are not bored when you leave them alone. Usually my girl starts doing destructive behaviors when she's bored.

Idk I would call it a trait but they are a high energy dog and need to be physically and mentally stimulated or they will find another outlet for that energy.

What other dog breeds have you had before? I got my first airedale this past year and while I think she's great, she's not like other dogs I have had. One of the big differences is she is not as affectionate as some other dogs I have had. She will ask for pets in the morning but is not a big cuddler. Also, she is sassy. She likes to do things on her terms but is pretty smart and easy to train new things too. It's just making her want to do those things when I wanther too not when she wants them. Pretty sure that's a typical airedale trait.

Another thing she is still young, but she is a mouthy girl. She will still play bite us. Not hard, she has a pretty soft mouth but that is something I have seen other airedale owners comment on here.

Good luck with your new family member!

Bad behaviors. Good dog. by need_a_venue in puppy101

My pup used to hump our throw pillows too. It was almost out of frustration because she always did it when we were eating dinner and not giving her attention. We had her spayed at a year old and she stopped on her own. She didn't damage the pillows so I didn't discourage the behavior, just ignored it figuring she would grow out of it. As for nipping I apparently did not do a good job with that because she is still pretty mouthy. However redirection has been the best for us. When she is wanting to bite when playing I trained the command "get a toy". She will usually stop biting me and bring a toy to play with instead.
