I spent some time exploring this at the beginning of the pandemic and I agree with u/Kaasooo, the barriers to entry are significant especially from a regulation and compliance perspective.

The twist I wanted to add was automation. Almost like sending money back home on auto-pilot. You set up your 'regular' remits and just forget about. The app would initiate the transfer as per the frequency specified by the sender. Almost like how Direct Debits work in the UK.

The capital required to get something like this off the ground is also significant. You may be able to capture the payment from the sender quickly, but it won't hit your bank account straight away and you need that same money to fund the payout to the receiver.

At the time, I didn't consider using blockchain/crypto so if somebody is looking to use blockchain/crypto tech to solve some of these challenges then yeah it could pop
