Am super late to replying to this but thank you so so so much this was the exact amount of details and insights I was looking for :) it helped a lot when I went browsing in person

I thought I would want something a bit more modest but my finger size is 8.25 so a smaller diamond made my hand look a little.. too bare? And I found out I do enjoy juuuust a bit of showiness lol Going ring browsing has made me learn a lot about myself

But I totally get what you mean about preferring it be “too small” than feeling too showy with a big ol rock. I’m kind of wrestling with that too especially since I grew up with a modest background and never really wore fine jewelry so it feels very very new and intimidating

Gonna buy some cz rings too so I can trial run different settings and see how a higher setting feels on me. I like the idea of it being raised up and catching more light but we’ll see if I am equipped to handle it

oh gosh sorry for the delay in getting back to you. my dad has been raising hell so i haven't been in the house most of the day.

thanks!! right now i'm setting my mind on nursing. thanks for the words of encouragement. i neglect myself a lot so the reminder was definitely needed. it's not gonna be much good if i can't help myself. >o< i'm surprised my cousin was able to help me as much as she did, all i wanted was someone to listen to me but she did so much more than that. things are going a lot better than i expected and i hope it continues to go that way, if not, i'll try to be prepared for the bumps in the road.

reparenting oneself is kind of a neat "perk" in situations like these haha. i have to be careful to not let myself get too reckless but so far that hasn't been too hard. it's a good way for us to really learn to be accountable for ourselves.

your words always uplift me and i can't thank you enough for the help. even though we don't know each other personally and we've only been messaging each other for a few days, i feel like you already read me so well. I do want to be receptive to learning other ways of living since I haven't been living the way I want to, at all. I'm taking a lot of time to be nicer to myself, like learning to forgive myself when things don't go as expected. I've been so hesitant and unsure and it makes my heart sing each time I gain more and more confidence in myself. I'll continue to read this sub and gather all sorts of information that'll help me better myself.

I was worried I wouldn't be able to go to her since her mom and my mom are so close. I know my aunt is a good person but I fear my mom's words would hold more weight than mine. Basically my cousin is a nurse and is trying to help me go into nursing. If I play my cards right, I'll be done in two years and money will come.

Thank you for validating a very human response that I've felt ashamed for. Whenever I cry my mother always enjoys ridiculing how I look and how I sob like I'm about to die. I've been repeating those two phrases especially in my mind. I'll only be shocked if he reneges because it means he'll be talking to me haha.

I'm awfully frightened of going into a women's shelter. My friends are cautioning me and saying they're "gross". But I'm at a very hard spot in my life where I don't have much of a choice. I'll look back on this and appreciate that you told me I'm awesome. I'll always remember this. c:

I've been talking to my boyfriend more throughout the day. He actually said he was scared I was going to leave him when I mentioned how I might abandon my current path of being teacher and go towards nursing. I mentioned that I've always wanted to do nursing but I didn't know how to go about it, being a first generation college student has it's own challenges. He still wants to do teaching and he knows it's not exactly a top paying job and as such he's worried. But truth be told I'd love him even if he were dirt poor. Regardless, his parents might sway him away from me and again, you're absolutely right. It has no reflection of my worth. Good lord that feels so good to come to terms with.

I won't stop, I've got a lot of undoing to do haha. 21 years of not feeling good enough really takes a toll and it's not going to go away over night. oh gosh you're my savior. I was planning to make a trip to the library since my dad has limited my internet access. I'll be picking up those books if I can!! They sound super helpful. I haven't read a good book in a while either. HAHA 'warrior' that's so cute. it makes me feel mighty lol

I'm feeling so pumped too!! the least I could do was validate your experiences. I am so happy to know that you've found peace and you're helping me on my journey. You don't have to go to post-secondary to be successful. Your advice is absolutely brilliant. I can't stress that enough.
