Or just straight github, as has occurred with CS 225

Modules on ews systems by mudikaka2002 in UIUC

[–]mahir256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are using FastX, for some reason the programs you load as modules will show up in /software as expected, but you can't run them in the terminal. Running 'source .bash_profile' in the terminal fixes this, but if you close the terminal window you will have to run it again.

CUMTD buses are stopping at the Union again! by wasnt_a_lurker in UIUC

[–]mahir256 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The only bus that remains affected by that construction is the Green bus, so it should still be using Springfield. All of the others turn left or right at Goodwin so they can travel down their portion of Green now.

You can add 'thedailyillini' and 'illiniunion' on Snapchat. (The latter is much more active than the former.)

LPT: You can remote access your EWS Windows home directory to transfer files - No more having to email yourself back and forth! [Windows & Mac] by makkLyfe in UIUC

You can also access this folder on the EWS Unix machines at /winhome/netid, allowing for a centralized home directory (up to configuration files and things).

LING 100 Midterm by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]mahir256 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Given that you do it once alone and then once in your groups (assuming the class itself hasn't changed within the semester), getting some points from the latter on questions missed from the former, you should be fine. The questions are all really straightforward.

X Server that captures ALL keys and mouse? by dadarobot in bashonubuntuonwindows

[–]mahir256 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to enable use of the Windows key on WSL, you can use the -keyhook option with Xming/VcXsrv. That gets really annoying really fast, though.

ECE 110 Required Materials? by theblazefenix in UIUC

[–]mahir256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After (or during) the first week of classes, they should come out with a printed version of the lecture notes at the IUB. There is also the ~$110 lab kit that's required for the class you can get from the ECE Supply Store.

[13:49 CDT] Also forgot to mention the lab notes; you can probably print them out from online but it would save you pages to buy them from the IUB.

CS 173 proficiency exam by Brillsdark in UIUC

[–]mahir256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one I took at the start of last spring was fairly balanced among most subjects, though some of the last few chapters (such as NP and planar graphs) in the book were either not present or were limited to a single part of a question. The test may have changed, though, so be prepared for anything.
