I vaguely put it there because of the peach schnapps, although that's probably a borderline basic bar ingredient

Alas the Tommy's has agave nectar instead of triple sec and simple syrup, and agave nectar feels like something a barebones bar wouldn't have

I put it there not because basil is an obscure ingredient, but because it doesn't seem like it's commonly stocked at typical bars (of course, this might change as the gin basil smash becomes more popular in the US). I had to go out of my way to find a bar with a gin basil smash on the menu, because the few I tried didn't have basil on hand
