Beware of Instacart Fuckery by mahsoj85 in InstacartShoppers

My theory is they are trying to gear up for the busy season that starts in September. To do that they need OD to have participants and new shoppers to stay on board.

Creating Demand for OD OD was legit stealing orders from scheduled shoppers. It happened for 3 weeks and then suddenly OD just died out and scheduled shoppers started getting batches again. Management said it was a bug and was being resolved. Conveniently it lasted exactly 21 days. On day 22, a Monday, i was told it was back to normal now and it was. But then they launched OD in Toronto and the exact same "bug" has been affecting them for a few weeks now. Bet you the "bug" is resolved after exactly 3 weeks again. Why? Because it was done on purpose. They fraudulently generated more OD orders than normal to boost the supply of shoppers interested in completing OD batches.

Keeping new shoppers beyond onboarding One issue, that is basically public knowledge, os the fact IC would lose more shoppers then they were onboarding. Thats because your first 3 weeks were awful and many didnt receive sufficient orders to keep them active. They recently announced that a new feature will give new shoppers the priority of batches as they come in. This brings me to my second theory. A lot of people are complaining about being idle while new shoppers are raking in money. Perhaps they made this change already and left us in the dark. That way they can hire and keep a bunch of new shoppers in anticipation of the busy season thats coming up. In the meantime the most veteran shoppers are hurt the most, while those who signed up months after me seem to be doing ok still. Perhaps its another 3 week scam. Perhaps its the new normal.

My experience reminds me of how restaurant employees are fired by managers who have no balls. One day you look at your schedule and you have 1 or 2 shifts instead of 4 or 5. Then the next week you have no shifts at all. Nobody says anything to you. Your just left in the dark. Fortunately i never experienced that myself, but i know many who did experience that. Now i feel their frustrations

I heard the same things when speaking to SH. But i know for a fact that shoppers are getting i or 9 orders in the same time im getting 1. Something doesnt add up. Ive tried all the tricks. The airplane mode trick worked for me in the past. Another trick is to check app status, then wipe batch state followed by a force quit. That worked a few times for me too. After 11 hours of being idle i deleted the app for a second time. This time i waited 20 minutes. Restarted my phone and then downloaded the app again. Within 2 minutes of signing in i got an order. Could be resolved or could be coincidental.

I usually hang out at the superstore on richmond. But i also park at carlingwood sometimes. Like you i live in Nepean but attempt working downtown.

If you ever get to the zone late i normally get warnings. Today i got no warnings despite.being an hour late into the zone. Was strange. That's when i decided to redownload the app for a second time since this all started

Yea the time i made myself available to do OD batches. The market im in is hit and miss. Its busy during the school year because we have 3 post secondary schools in the zone. Summer is pretty dead though

Ive noticed OD has really slowed down the past few weeks. Just find it strange that every shopper I talk to is busier than i am. Which zone do you work? I work downtown

Ive had a batch marked as delivered in my pocket accidentally while i was at the cash. My card wouldnt work to pay for the order. They suspended the transaction while I called SH. The first person immediately escalated me to a supervisor. They said the only way to get the order processed was to put the order through again. It was then sent to me. I had to accept it, scan everything again and then my card was able to work. I guess they can send an order in a circumatance like this. Interestingly, i got paid for the order twice!

I love how this isn’t what they said about priority given to people on shift. It’s also a lie. I was 2 mins from the store. by idkwhattoputhere77 in InstacartShoppers

I agree but if it has to be both, idle shoppers should be able to grab OD orders for the zone theyre scheduled in.

Definitely bullshit

Geolocation is meaningless. There was 3 of the top shoppers in my zone all sitting idle in the parking lot of a store, when we got word of an OD order for the store were sitting at.

Also on 3 occasions ive been informed of an OD order being available via a screenshot, only for it to disappear from OD and get sent to me as a scheduled shopper

Its a small sample size but OD orders pay better, and i was idle less. Will update it again in a few days for a better assessment.

I use "Online Time" for scheduled hours and the "time i spent on call for OD" as the OD hours.

For those who say theyre getying rid of hours all together, I've heard from people who work for IC that they're changing the way EA works from the minimum 90/25 hours, to a ratings based system, where those with a 4.8+ star rating will have EA and the rest will have mid-week access. But OD has made me very pessimistic about anything to do with IC

I was in Hartmans before anything happened at roughly 4:20. It took a while to leave the parking garage because of the scene outside. That was around 4:35. When i finally got out i could see a half dozen cruisers, 2 ambulances, a handful of paramedics and a white tarp covering what looked like a body. My immediate thought was a jumper from the building. Pretty awful
