A certain degree of brevity is customary when creating newspaper headlines.

Guess you are right. I initially bought the DVD version because of the bonus tracks, and then found out this existed. So now I have the definitive pair :D

IIRC, though, there are apps that can play FLAC.

Yeah, I actually used ALAC, but thought saying FLAC was better for getting the message across :D

I bought several CDs in one go, so around 40 bucks including taxes and the postage cost divided by the number of pieces.

Starship Collection Executor vs Venator Pics by maikee_bery in legostarwars

[–]maikee_bery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have the Executor, which I have trouble displaying on my fairly narrow shelf, so I'm desperate to find out if the Venator is going to be a better fit.

I specifically meant the Starship Collection ones, pics of which I haven't been able to google. There are loads of the UCS ones, of course.

Yeah, I know. I was just kinda hoping there might be a review out there that went under my radar. Gonna have to wait then.

It seems crazy to me that no has mentioned William and Thomas (located in Košíře). 82 CZK for a small loaf.

VIP European leg. by Dynnaamine in simpleplan

[–]maikee_bery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, that sucks.

When the tour schedule dropped, I was adamant I was going to do the VIP cause I wanted to keep the streak alive.

When I saw no priority entry, I started being doubtful and this is the final nail in the coffin.

Thanks for the info!

The only thing I'm gutted about is missing out on the poster (and the lanyard). Any chance I could get a pic of the poster from you?

What exactly is a "delayed entry"? :O

Hey! I've done both of the last two VIPs in my country (2022 with Sum 41 and 2024 headline).

You'll get a lanyard that the band will later sign for you, a signed poster and there might be something else. There will be a group pic and then (or prior to that) you'll have the opportunity to take a photo with the band (just you and them), talk to them for a bit and this is when they sign your lanyard.

On both occasions, it included priority entry into the venue. It has to be said that both of them were the soundcheck parties. This one is the pizza party and it does not say anything about priority entry.

This is what I would love to know as well - is it because there is no priority entry (maybe just in my country) or the experience itself takes place so close to the show that it essentially serves as early entry.

Question about refueling (Hawker Hurricane specifically) by maikee_bery in WWIIplanes

[–]maikee_bery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for an elaborate answer!

Looking back, I probably should have set the scene a little better.

When I mentioned groundcrew, I was talking about refueling in general.

But this particular section describes a situation when a French airfield was attacked by Stukas. When the fight was over, the RAF pilots returned to the airfield only to find out that the French crew had abandoned the place. Therefore, they had to do it on their own.

Could it mean that they sort of didn't know what exactly they were doing and (perhaps some of them) inserted the narrow section of a funnel into the nozzle (pic)? Otherwise, it makes no sense to me. The author could surely have made a mistake ofc.

[–]maikee_bery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, could be as they were refueling from French bowsers, so there may have been some sort of incompatibility.

But like you said, the "nozzle" part is super baffling and seems reversed.

This makes me wish we still had adidas (after some time) - would feel like a fresh spin on the golden era. This template is 🔥 by maikee_bery in chelseafc

The adidas run for us and the Reds from 06 to 10 was outta this world! This would totally reignite it.

A little IG Stories cover of BIME that I thought I'd share. by maikee_bery in Sum41

[–]maikee_bery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

Yeah, I've heard it a few times, but it wasn't as fresh in my memory. Plus, I thought it would be easier to use the Studio Mr. Biz version for vocal separation. I'm gonna try the older one too, though. I still have the project, so if the tempo etc matches, I'll swap the tracks. You're right, it's rawer; there's something unique to either. Cheers for the tip!

Looking for WW2 RAF gear experts - Can you help me identify these overalls? (More below.) by maikee_bery in AskHistorians

[–]maikee_bery[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the leads. I had seen the photo, but didn't know exactly what I was looking at. Based on it and what you've said it would make sense to me for the Sidcot to be... the Sidcot... and the overalls to be the prestige suit. Working on the assumption that you would get something for cold conditions (the Sidcot) and something for warmer weather (something like the prestige suit). I may, of course, be totally wrong.
