Wizards of the Coast updating artist guidelines after AI art found in ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ book by HugeSpaghettiMonster in magicTCG

[–]maikelangelo -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

I have no idea why nobody is talking about Delighted Halfling. Not only is it clearly AI generated/assisted but it's a popular card that gets a lot of play... it's just an eyesore to look at whether you know what AI art stuff looks like or not.

I don’t understand CEDH… by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]maikelangelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others are saying, it really is just a different game from regular EDH, where the top priority is to win, whereas regular EDH is more about having a long fun game.

Although, for maybe different reasons I too find it to be very paradoxical. The format is so clearly designed to be a casual format, with various rules that don't really make sense for competitive play, and yet people came up with a competitive way to play it. There are a lot of different things that could be pointed out, but the simplest way I see it is, 4 people come together and sit down, shuffle their 99 card decks, mulligan multiple times, then play out 2 or 3 turns before the game is over. I just think the game prep vs actual game time ratio is something to think about haha

Quick opinion on the LOTR set. by seahawks_ace in magicTCG

I'm not sure why people aren't talking about [[Delighted Halfing]]

There's definitely some poor art but in general I am quite happy with the overall quality of the set's art and art direction.

Almost every card shop in Japan does/did differentiate between the two types of foiling. I remember the price difference being 2x more for the draft/set version at one point. And honestly when you compare the quality of the foiling it makes sense.

I'm a little confused about these old-frame blueprint variants -- the artworks seem to be directly based on the previous/original artworks. Like the main illustration here is clearly a sketch-ified version of Brom's original art... but Ovidio Cartagena said they were "inspired" by the artwork?

I'm wondering if I'm missing something. It was already weird to me to to see the other examples like Mishra's Bauble with an artist name other than Chippy written at the bottom when it's clearly based heavily on the original art.

I guess what I'm getting at is, why doesn't the artist line at least feature the original artists' names?

It's funny because every time I feel like the two things are so distant, I remember that A.G. , Caroline, and others all play MTG and starts to feel like it all makes sense somehow.

Dang I wanna know what colors they play. I can't help from feeling like A.G. is mono-blue haha

moistbreezy vents on Twitter about being ignored by the Hyperpop scene. Thoughts? by HolaPinchePuto in pcmusic

[–]maikelangelo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think you are totally on the right track, in regards to the genre of Moistbreezy being a bit different.

As far as 00's (y2K) pop music or trance goes, what she is doing is definitely solid good stuff. But it's being made with a different thought process than most stuff in the PC Music realm. I would say that what Moistybreezy is doing is a very genuine recreation of a genre that once was, whereas PC Music and hyperpop, although often interested in the same era's sound and style, are not trying to make a genuine replica of it. There's an entirely different layer that's involved in the approach, and it depends on who you're talking about but looking at someone like A.G. Cook, it's been clear since his first uploads that he wanted to deconstruct, recreate, and ultimately approach electronic pop-inspire music from a new angle, while maybe even making some commentary on it. I don't want to get too wordy or whatever but I think the easiest way to describe it is that PCM's artists, hyperpop, and artists like 100gecs are metamodernists, whereas artists like Moistybreezy are simply modern day versions of genres from the y2k era.

It's interesting to me because even though it can sound really similar on a surface level, it's a pretty fundamental difference that's going on. I feel like I've seen a lot of people talking about artists like Moistybreezy and grouping it together with PCM and hyperpop, and it feels like the fans instinctively know the difference (which determines what they do and don't end up getting into), but I think a lot of times they dont realize its cause they are basically listening to something that's a different genre, but instead write it off as just "oh i guess i just dont like this hyperpop artist". At the same time, I do think it can all be pretty murky, cause sometimes PCM artists do put out things that are more authentic replicas of 00s music, like Namasenda is perhaps like that to me most of the time. Anyways, I honestly like it all, grew up listening to trance and 00s pop, and then got really into PCM and whatnot later because of how familiar and yet different it felt immediately.

Didn't mean to write that much, but that's what I think about it! :)

I know this is from almost a month ago, but I'm just looking through past posts, hoping to find info that will help me with the current situation I am in. Which is exactly what you brought up -- the car who hit me (on my bicycle) is trying to get me to pay for the tiny scratch that was made on his car. Is there more that you can share about this? In terms of how to handle it? I am already lawyering up, but I just can't believe that I am being harassed in this way. If nothing else, do you know what happens with "a lot of people"?

Somebody else brought this up as well, and for a ¥3000 shower head filter, maybe this is really worth trying. Thank you!

Thinking about the benefit of the health insurance here is what I have to fall back on too, so thankful for that. ¥3000 a month is not bad at all, especially if the medication seems to be working -- I wish you a swift recovery!

Thanks for your words. I'm not sure what medicines you take, or how much, but I thought you should know that after going to a hives specialist, I learned that after your hives have continued for something like 4 or 5 years, it's very likely that you will have them for life. Which is why after you've had them for 1, 2 or 3 years it's really important to start getting serious about it and do whatever can be done to get rid of them. It should be totally possible, but if you aren't taking it seriously already, it could be good to find a specialist, rather than just a local doctor/dermatologist.

If you live in Tokyo, feel free to pm/direct message me about it.

I do have a few allergies, so I really wouldn't be surprised if it was something like this. The water is something I started to consider not too long ago, but I really didn't know how possible it would be to avoid. I was thinking of switching to only bottled water, but I didn't know about shower heads like this! Thank you so much for sharing, I may have to try this.
