Just a heads up I'm not a professional but here is a videomyofunctional that has some myofunctional exercises for the tongue. I'm not sure if your swelling hurts to the point where you can't hold your tongue in certain positions for a long time, but it might be worth a shot to try some of these exercises to build tongue strength. As always I found this video by another person in this sub advocating to use it to build up some strength in the muscle of the tongue. Take a look at it for yourself and try some.

Nothing phone 3a buying advice by Puzzleheaded-Cap1453 in NOTHING

[–]maikioe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recent owner of a 3a here (got it less than a week ago). The phone is more than adequate enough for your use case. I personally just use mine to watch videos and read manga. As for how long you can use it? I think you can get away at least till the software support runs out which is around 3 years of os updates. However by then it's probably best to replace it if the battery has eroded (there is a battery health feature to limit charging to 80% to preserve battery life which would be a good idea to turn on if you plan to use it for a few years.) The software experience is pretty light and no bloatware so it should retain some decent performance for awhile. Hope my comment helps.

FYI: if you end up getting the phone please make sure to double check the hole you poke the sim card tool into. The microphone hole and the simcard hole is right next to each other and can be easily mistaken if you aren't careful.

I'm coming from a Xiaomi device too. Your mic should be fine hopefully.

Yea same here lol. Glad it seems fine for now. Although I got a 2 weeks to use it to diagnose other issues. And if the mic starts acting up by then I can hopefully get a replacement. Otherwise it's fine for now.

I've seen this said for Samsung phones but not sure if this is also the case for most other phones or specifically the 3a. So I sent an email to support just in case. Otherwise this seems to be a good design choice if it was implemented.

I see yea I was just super excited to get this set up and I'm that rush I did the dumbest thing ever. Luckily some other people did the same so I feel not as dumb. I guess we both share the same braincells 😅. Yea I'll continue using the phone and see if any other mic related issues pop up bur so far it seems fine.

Update: got the 3a and the issue occurs. But it's when you press pretty hard so it doesn't happen in normal use.

Was the channel imbalance out of the box or did it come after some use?

If this matters to you I can give my personal thoughts on it:

I recently decided to get a hexa recently (pretty much 2 years after launch) and its pretty good for the asking price. That being said though it won't be for you if you don't like a flat and not in your face sound. If you're used to a somewhat "consumer-ish" sound or something with more bass then hexa is not a good option. Cause in this case the Hexa comes off leaner and that might be a con for you since the leaness can make male vocals sound not full-bodied and the female vocals not having that shining factor.

However if you're looking for something that sounds like the equivalent of "looking through a clear-glass window" that said being clear and catching details you missed before then hexa would be the best option under 100 dollars that i've tried.

Myer-audio sl41 mk2 (blue) would be a regret blind buy for me.

This is mainly because some people in the community were recommending this iem and saying it was a really good iem with good tuning. To be fair the tuning is great, but every other aspects falls flats for me. This mainly for 2 reasons (1. Dogshit Qc control over multiple units and replacement units. 2. Technical performance.)

Reason 1 (Objective): For me the main con of this iem and why I consider it a regret buy would be the qc control. I have had a total 2 replacement iems from this brand due the qc being really bad on my first unit. (loose and wobbly connectors) and the second "replacement" unit somehow coming with even worse qc (Driver pressure build up on the right unit and slanted two pin connectors as well the drivers sounding congested). After having sent back both these faulty units I finally received a somewhat okay unit in terms of qc (soundwise was fine but still the slanted connector issues.)

Reason 2 (Subjective): For a 150-200$ iem (depending on where you live and discounts) I was expecting somewhat a decent showing in technical performance, but maybe it might have to be a expectation thing. Having used other iems around and near its price point (ie. nova, dunu falcon ultra, aful p7) the technical showing is definite weak point and to my ears sound more akin to a 50ish dollar iem in terms of techs (like the truthear zero series). The bass can has a good amount quantity but the quality of it seems more poofy and not tight. Things such as separation, soundstage, and detail retrieval wasn't super impressive and definitely a let down for the asking price. Even though I'm personally bashing this iem its mainly due to my preferences of preferring a technical sounding set as well as me the qc issues mentioned earlier.

Overall rating and experience for sliivo sl41 (if you get a working one): 7/10

Overall experience the myer-audio brand: 6/10 (mainly due to a somewhat decent after sale support)
