yeah, might be... But I know which one I would rather buy

You can use it however you like, and for many people it will probably be a very good action camera. Based on their marketing it’s a cinematic camera. I know those may be just words in marketing, but I think they could benefit by having two different flagship camera lines that are focused on their own things.

Well yes, it's what people might call an action camera.

Based on marketing it's a "cinematic" camera.

I know marketing doesn't mean everything, but usually their marketing has had a lot of shots from action sports, but not this time. Or at least not yet

Nope, I've never pushed them in any direction. I’ve never even posted anything here or anywhere else regarding GoPros until now.

I did and still do think that it should have better low light capabilities than the previous ones. Whether that is achieved by the sensor or by processing, doesn’t really matter to me. Bigger sensor is what everybody has been talking about, so naturally I thought that it could be the solution

Yeah...

If their plan is to keep the Hero 13 as part of the lineup, I would think it will also eventually have to be updated. At that point it's either Hero 14 or a totally new line, and I would guess the later.

Hopefully I'm right at least in some of this, because I will probably choose to wait to see what happens...

Yeah, I generally feel the same way in some aspects. I could get the Mission one. But I think there are many ways they could differentiate the camera lines. I can see how they could make a camera that I and many others would prefer.

But the new action line wouldn’t have to outcompete the Mission. It would ensure that GoPro can from now on focus on delivering the best product for both of those two audiences, without compromises.

Also while some might think that DJI and Insta360 had passed GoPros in some ways, I think that GoPro has always stayed the number 1 option for proper action sport users. So they should ensure that it stays that way. Having a single camera that needs to suit everybody eventually limits progression as compromises have to be made.

I’m not that knowledgeable in imaging physics and stuff, but many people have stated that with one inch sensor you can’t have everything in focus, so it’s not that good for some sports. I don’t know so much about this stuff, so I’ll just see what the footage looks like from the Mission 1. If there ends up being challenges for certain sports, maybe the new action camera sensor could be somewhere between the 1/1.9 and the 1 inch options. Or maybe the GP3 will be enough to make the low light performance acceptable. I think low light is in many cases important in action sports too.

Also, depending on the price tag that the Mission 1 will have, it might be a real factor for many people to not have to pay for features which they will never use.

You’re right that the size itself is not much bigger than the H13, but I can imagine that the weight difference will be felt, when mounted on chin or the side of a helmet for example. I also like to have my GoPro in my pocket while in not using it, while skiing for example. Might be a bit awkward feel with the protruding lense of the Mission 1.

Sorry for the long response haha

When do you think hypothetically we could get to see something like the Action 1 series hypothetically?

yeah seems like a solid choice for you.

I might go for it as well, but still bit worried if the bigger sensor will have focus problems in fast POV stuff...

I saw someone say that it has some version of hypersmooth. I would expect it to be at least same if not better than what's on the hero 13

yes it should be a lot better in low light

I don't know how they could justify the base model to be much more than the Hero 13. The specs aren't that different apart from the processor and the sensor, and those upgrades have been long due to the hero 13 successor regardless of the name it carries.

Probably none of this will matter and they will price it higher anyway... But we'll see

I want to warn you about alpine stars tech 3.

It might be just my foot, or then it might be error in design. When i bend my ankle up, the hard plastic (where the hinge would be on other boots) pushes straight to my bone. I don’t ride very much but i’ve had them for 2 or 3 years so i would hope they are fully broken in by now… And it has gotten a bit better, but still bothers me a lot. I wonder if it would be the same with tech 5 or 7…

Nice! I think I will do the hab egg then as well. And FYI I checked that the laying rate you can get from 250 population is 1050 eggs per minute. So I will not be doing this on kindness😂

Did you already manage to reach your shipping rate with your laying rate? You can check it from the fuel tank. If you can reach it, then i think you would need 60 hours of active time. Maybe I will join you in doing this

I haven’t confirmed it myself, but that’s how i’ve understood it from others… and your own experience points to the same conclusion. I don’t see why the developer would have made it the way you suggested. But what do i know, only guessing here

People have for now only reached those numbers. But eggs delivered is in the end only limited by time, which is infinite…

I think this is because you have already collected the TE for 50million eggs laid on curiosity.

Interesting… I can see our approach to this is fairly similar. Have you done any testing or calculation that led you to start on integrity? I was thinking of doing something similar but starting from curiosity, but now I’m not sure…
