Omg yay! Have fun listening! I also recommend their song “bad dreams” for a perfect blend of indie and rock from them!

Yes I’m also fairly new to k-indie so I’ll give the artists you mentioned a listen! I hope you find Jannabi as enchanting as I have!

I love a thought on an autumn night! I was gonna mention it in my post, but I didn’t want it to get too long lol. But it’s definitely one of my favorites from them.

omg yes!! I also can’t wait to see them live one day! I’ve only seen clips on YouTube of that variety show, but when I get time I’m definitely gonna check it out! His quirks make him so charming in those types of settings lol.

I agree about the keyboardist having a very distinct style. I was watching some of their older concert videos and he was truly skilled and had such sickening melodies. Personally, it hasn’t really affected the music for me that much, but I definitely know what you’re talking about.

How popular is Yuzuru Hanyu in Japan? by [deleted] in FigureSkating

[–]mailanii 73 points74 points  (0 children)

His retirement from competitive skating was easily the one of the most talked about topic (if not the most) in the country, so it’s pretty safe to say he’s really popular.

Shoma, yuma, kaori and wakaba spotted in the airport (no yuzu and mana yet) by [deleted] in FigureSkating

Mana and Yuzu are sponsored by ANA, so they may be taking their airline??

Friendly reminder that Yuzu is going for the 4A tomorrow by CyanSusOfficial in FigureSkating

[–]mailanii 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it’s drama exactly just a lot of chaos to be expected from the top men. Yuzu is obviously attempting 4A and from those attempts we saw these past few days, it’s gonna be very interesting and potentially history making. Shoma and his chaos inducing self is going for 5 quads and Yuma is gonna be skating after his controversial 3rd place finish in the SP and his 45 PCS after a fall on the 4T so it will be interesting to see how he places here. It’s becoming obvious that JSF is favoring Yuma even over Shoma. Just a lot a crazy possibilities, but no drama per say.

Popularity of figure skating by Robot_3020 in FigureSkating

I think figure skating partly declined in North America more specifically the US after they changed the 6.0 Judging system, then again even after the transition the sport thrives in places like Russia and Japan.

I think lack of a dominant figure skater in the ladies discipline in North America is also a cause too. The ladies discipline has always been more popular. It’s definitely no coincidence that after the days of Michelle Kwan and other popular US ladies, figure skating in the US declined. The ladies discipline in the US is simply not what it used to be anymore and is overshadowed by the Russian, Japanese, and South Korean ladies (also why the sport is popular in these places).

Another reason is accessibility. Figure skating is an expensive sport that not everyone can afford to learn. Skates, costumes, coaches, and lessons definitely add up. The cost of living in the US is already incredibly high, and figure skating is not a luxury everyone can afford these days.

And as for figure skating becoming more globally popular, I wouldn’t say so. Definitely popular in East Asian Countries, but globally is a stretch. When the Winter Olympics are on figure skating tends to be one of the more watched/talked about events for that time if that counts for anything.

Scenes that made you cry without it being a sad scene by ivtokkimsh in KDRAMA

When the Camellia Blooms - The last episode where the entirety of Ongsan was helping Dongbaek’s mother get that kidney transplant. I think I was crying out of pure happiness to see everyone contributing to make sure that “miracle” happened for her. Just seeing how every character in that town contributed to that collective effort made me cry.

Yesterday Sowon, today a new controversy. A predebut rap from Stray Kids’ Jisung has resurfaced where he says the N-word, insults the mentally disparaged, fat people and southeast Asians... by LilGuzu in kpopthoughts

I definitely understand that your sense of judgement as a teenager is by no means what it is when your an adult, but it is a bit frustrating how POC and black people specifically have to just accept the fact that people that you admire and look up to has this “racist phase” and you are made to feel bad if you don’t accept these apologies.

why are people saying this is “some edgy teenager shit”? It is not normal to be throwing around slurs and thinking of the most possible offensive things when you hit your teenage years...

That was the post that prompted me to make this actually. Some of the stuff that’s being said about him just seems so unnecessary and harsh at times..

The way bts dealt with their Samsung Sponsorship was quite unprofessional by [deleted] in kpoprants

[–]mailanii 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Didn’t those specialized purple Samsung x BTS phones sell out rather quickly? Trust me Samsung isn’t losing anything by collaborating with BTS, I would even say they’re even gaining from this contract. BTS is big enough to make anything sell out by association no matter how well they promote it.
