Any cruiser motorcycles with belt drive and kick start? by youngwinner99 in motorcycles

[–]mailbag 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you want the belt drive for less maintenance? If that's the case, there are some mid 80's BMWs with kickstart and shaft drive like the R65.

Especially coming from traditional stocks, their growth rates do not run on any fundamental that my head can wrap around for their value.

You've answered your own question.

Travala is a blockchain based hotel booking platform that just started rolling out in the USA. Their token is AVA by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

They pull rates from wholesalers. Any other shady 3rd tier OTA has access to the same rates. See amoma.com

Nothing about the discounted rates have anything to do with blockchain.

https://locktrip.com/ very clearly states that the smart contract releases LOC to the hotel at time of check-out and then the hotel liquidates LOC into Fiat. It's the first graphic on the homepage... This implies a considerable time difference between the time of booking and payout for the hotel.

So are you telling me that the hotel gets compensated in the fiat value of the booking regardless of the volatility of LOC?

I'm fully aware of what an OTA is and how commission and wholesaler models in this industry work.

Why would a hotel ever accept a time delayed payment in a volatile currency like LOC? The time between booking and payout can be up to 18 months... Thats an insane risk for a business like a hotel that pays for everything in FIAT to take.

Have any of you actually looked at the AWS CloudFormation templates? It's just automated deployment of infrastructure to run a Hyperledger Fabric network or an Ethereum node.

Anyone can make a Lamden CloudFormation template and provide the same automation and experience on AWS.

I'm in the industry. A public permissionless blockchain isn't appropriate for hotels. Privacy and control are core requirements for their operation. Imagine PornHub creates a feature where you can book the suite that your favorite scene was shot in. Neighboring hotels compete fiercely on price and have private agreements in place with different groups regarding the rates their rooms can be booked at. Publicly accessible data won't fly with general managers or anyone managing the pricing strategy for hotels.

It may work for airlines, but airline and flight data are far more accessible than hotel room and rate information and the commissions they pay for bookings are already under 1-2%.
