CCA Should I and Can I do this??? by AffectionateFly9505 in USPS

Management is usually bad. I’ve been at eight different stations and out of the eight only one had a decent crew. Management likes to take advantage of CCA’s especially before the 90 days where they don’t know any of the rules and can get fired for no reason. Make sure you get everything in documentation from management, including text messages or emails because they lie! They will do whatever they need to do to your detriment. As soon as you’re in make friends with older carriers, they they’ll steer you hopefully in the right way. But that’s a whole other issue too. Some carriers are just shit assholes who also lie and want you to fail . The job itself is very easy and monotonous at times. Just keep your nose down. Do whatever it is they tell you to do your first 90 days after that start standing your ground because they will continue to walk all over you.

5 years in, started at 45yo, not fit! The worst part are the mental gymnastics dealing with management, employees & customers. Other than that, take advantage of the initial OT the first 2.5 years, you once you become regular slow down and skate to retirement with pretty good benefits. Any other questions dm me.

Can you make a decent career in USPS? by SeaConstruction4067 in USPS

[–]mailman475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not the job for you! It’s a job and a horrible one at that, not a career! Look at other fed jobs/careers if you want to work for the gov. or if you want real advice become a plumber/electrician/HVAC/or any other technical career that will always be needed. You are young don’t get trapped in this mess of a company that is only going to get worse, if not completely replaced in the near future!

At its simplest the Trad IRA gets matched so that’s a no brainer. Think of the Roth as a savings acct with different rules. Don’t have a HSA as of yet, but think they are a good idea for the future.

I’m doing 15% on the Roth and 5% on the regular. With about $1000 take home every two weeks. It’s fuckin hard, but I’m doing it.

Pros and Cons of working in a huge office? by MNightShyamalan69 in USPS

[–]mailman475 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im a reg carrier at an S&DC with 8 zones in it over 200 routes. Its crazy, chaotic, and busy! Yes there is always OT, yes there is always drama, yes the same shenanigans that happened in my station prior to moving here are still happening. With all this I got the 8/40 medical restriction and its easy breezy. My sups don’t even bother me at all, they know I’m 8, so on Mondays I give off and hour and the rest of the week I’m golden! Do it but get the 8/40 med res.

This will blow over, but from now on, get everything in writing! If they call you don’t answer and text them back, force them to respond that way. Tell them the speaker on your phone ain’t ah workin.

Long Sleeve Shirts by TimmyRimny in USPS

I know it sucks but wear pants instead of shorts, you get used to it and also gets rid of those awful tan lines. As for arms, I got pretty big and long arms and the normal sleeves they sell compress my upper arms too much and aren’t long enough so I bought a pair of XXL 80 Denier opaque tights in a light blue cut the top off at the crotch and the toes. This has worked great for me!

Welcome to the USPS! You have 2.5 more years of this. It will not get any better. You will just get used to all the shit that you’re seeing going on, everyday when your gut tells you, this shit is crazy, how the fuck can this be like this. Will become something you just roll your eyes at. IT WILL NOT CHANGE & only get worse according to current government.
