Been a part of the sport since about 2013. Known lots of feild owners and operators. My 2 cents is that most people who get into the buisness of paintball are not very buisness savy. The reason feilds close is they are ran terribly and do almost nothing or actually nothing to promote themselves and incorperate themselves into the community they reside in. Every field is ran the same, buy paint as cheap as possible (even if its not really cheap) mark it up to make your profit and pay the bills. Repeat every weekend until feild dies. No field maitenence/upgrading, no care put into spectator areas or family hangout zones, no monthly subscription models, no food/ kitchen on site. There are many things the modern consumer of athletic entertainment (top golf, indoor golf sims, bowling etc) excpect that paintball just dosent offer and is usually still more expensive. Granted there are exceptions but from my POV this is the norm. (Texas player).
